Sonnet CSR Knowledgeable, friendly and helpful
It was such a relief to have a knowledgeable, friendly and helpful customer service rep. This is a company I'll reccomend to my friends. These days your always talking with automated systems. Live customer service reps here are amazing. Sonnet is doing a fantastic job of taking care of its clients.

All had gone well for almost 5 years.. Reasonable-ish rates, no claims.. so in uneventful insurance terms basically they took my money, and I asked for nothing in return.
I noticed (4 days past my renewal) that my rates had increased 25% from last year. I hadn't received any notification of this, I just happened to notice. I'm told that to cancel in 2 weeks time (time to make other arrangements with another company) it will cost some amount $150 over a monthly premium in 'cancellation fees' for just 14 days of coverage.
I have so many questions. Is an email legally sufficient notification when such a large rate increase in being communicated? I do not have the email. E-mails are not 100% guaranteed delivery. In any case, the entire interaction I had with them over this cancellation thing screamed we're taking your money no matter what.
I'm going to eat the cost, and never return.
Reply to Sonnet response. The copy paste reply from other negative reviews is touching. The fact you simply don't care shines through clearly. Had I received such a notification, I would have cancelled much sooner. I have already been in touch with the chat agents, who loosely told me to go pound sand - tough luck.
Oh and for fun here's the explanation for the higher rates. Almost 30% increases in a year. Good luck out there folks.

We filed for rate increases for the past year in Ontario for Auto policies, and they were indeed approved. There was one in April 23, increase by roughly 15%, thereafter in June 23, around 7% and then in November 23, approximately 5%
