Not worth it

I canceled my plan because its honestly not worth it. Had the accident and illness plan along with the essential pack. Filed a claim for a wellness exam and instead of being reimbursed for it the money went towards my deductible. The employee I talked with was nice and tried to figure out why that happened but I still got no money back. I called to cancel and the employee I spoke with apparently never canceled my plan because I was charged for the next month.

claim not accepted

I inherited three dogs in December 2020 and February 2021: German Shepherds 7, 6 and 1 year old. I placed in insurance in the first 2 but I placed the wrong name in the 6 years old. I called Pumpkin to ask to change the name of the dog as she needed more the insurance than the one year old. However, they asked me to cancel the insurance in the 1 year old and place a new one in the 6 years old. She got an infection on her gums later and I took her to the vet and they did extractions in May. Now they will not honor the claim because they said that it was a pre -existing condition. I do not understand why the insurance did not allow me to rectify the name of the dog, and I realize this in a couple of weeks.

I purchased Pumpkin Pet insurance for my Maltese in March, 2021

with no idea she would die in April. I had only had the pet policy for one month when my sweet little Bailey started having complications breathing. She was rushed to the vet emergency clinic, put on Lasix and sent home to see her veterinarian the next day. After her visit the next day, Bailey was diagnosed with congestive heart failure, something I have never been told before. The next day Bailey died and we were devastated. Not knowing the insurance would pay, because I had only had it for one month, I filed the claim anyway. Low and behold the insurance paid 90% of Bailey's bill after my $250 co-pay. Amazing!!! I would recommend Pumpkin Pet insurance to anyone. If I ever get another pet I will definitely purchase the pet insurance from Pumpkin.

After owning 8 dogs without having pet insurance

we decided to get a wellness and critical care policy on our puppy Mahlee. We have not been insured long but submitted two claims for wellness puppy care, response from the Pumpkin Team was amazing! I had some issues submitting the claims, a Pumpkin Team member jumped in on chat and took care of everything. Payment arrived that day in the form of an email. I would recommend Pumpkin Pet Insurance to everyone!!!!!

Monthly Cost

Plans start as low as $30 per month. Prices vary based on plan type, pet breed, age, and location.

Coverage

Every pet is covered by a 90% reimbursement rate to make it easier to say “yes” to the best possible care.

Payout Limits

Annual limits of $10,000, $20,000 or unlimited for dogs and $7,000, $15,000 or unlimited for cats.

Deductible

3 options: $100, $250, $500 and $1000

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

Insurance coverage begins 14 days after your policy begins for all conditions, including knee/ligament issues where some other policies make you wait 6 months for coverage. No waiting periods for preventive care (in fact, depending on when you received the care, you may be eligible for a retroactive refund).

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. However, unlike some other pet insurances, Pumpkin’s plan covers some curable pre-existing conditions if symptom-free for 180 days, with the exception of knee and ligament conditions. For full terms, visit pumpkin.care/insurancepolicy.
