So easy and great people

The whole process was easy and surprisingly quick. I transferred the invoices from my email directly into the claims form and sent. Within 7 days I had my results and within 14 the reimbursement check. The customer service member I talk with during my process was nice and caring. Always referred to my pet by name. To say wow is an understatement. I have told everyone I can about Pumpkin and I highly recommend them. I believe this has been one of best decisions for my pets.

Be prepared for hassle with getting a claim paid..

The two illness/injury claims I filed were almost immediately denied. I had to go through an appeals process and in one instance file a complaint with the State Corporation Commission to get a response. They blatantly ignored timeliness in their policy, saying it could take 60 days to resolve an appeal when the policy stated 30. Ultimately, I cancelled. For the expense, there are better insurance providers.

Monthly Cost

Plans start as low as $30 per month. Prices vary based on plan type, pet breed, age, and location.

Coverage

Every pet is covered by a 90% reimbursement rate to make it easier to say “yes” to the best possible care.

Payout Limits

Annual limits of $10,000, $20,000 or unlimited for dogs and $7,000, $15,000 or unlimited for cats.

Deductible

3 options: $100, $250, $500 and $1000

Age Limits

No upper age limits. Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

Insurance coverage begins 14 days after your policy begins for all conditions, including knee/ligament issues where some other policies make you wait 6 months for coverage. No waiting periods for preventive care (in fact, depending on when you received the care, you may be eligible for a retroactive refund).

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. However, unlike some other pet insurances, Pumpkin’s plan covers some curable pre-existing conditions if symptom-free for 180 days, with the exception of knee and ligament conditions. For full terms, visit pumpkin.care/insurancepolicy.
