I looked at several pet insurance…

I looked at several pet insurance companies. I liked Prudent Pets' website, plus they offered comprehensive and preventive care. Their preventive care packages offer more than other pet insurance companies, and the coverage was easy to understand on the website. Their customer service is excellent. When I called, I got a customer service representative almost immediately. She was knowledgeable and friendly. I also received a welcome call providing me the opportunity to ask more questions.

Good registration experience, but no confirmation

Overall my experience was good - great UI, easy sign-up. The only thing that was a little weird was not getting an email confirmation when my registration was complete. That would have been a lot easier than having to log into my account to ensure everything had been set up correctly.

Monthly Cost

Monthly rates start at $10 for Accident only and $16 for Accident & Illness coverage. Those rates vary based on species, age, breed as well as your location.

Coverage

We cover based on the actual vet bill and have options for 90%, 80% or 70% reimbursement.

Payout Limits

We offer limits of $2,500, $5,000, $10,000, $15,000, $20,000 and an unlimited plan.  There are no lifetime limits with any option you choose.

Deductible

Choose a deductible that works best for you and your family, we offer $100, $250 and $500 options.

Age Limits

We have no age limits, but your pet will need to be at least 8 weeks old to enroll.

Waiting Period

For our accident & illness plans (essential & ultimate), we have a 14-day waiting period. Our accident-only policy only has a 5-day waiting period. There is no waiting period for wellness coverage.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions, cosmetic procedures and breeding costs are not covered by our policies. Optional Wellness Details We have two preventive/wellness plan options. Our basic option costs $9.95/month* and our Prime option costs $24.95/month*. These cover things like wellness exams, dental cleanings, or flea/heartworm prevention. Reimbursement for these is based on a set maximum annual amount. *Correct Jan. 2019
