Great value if you love your dog.

When my first dog had to have eye surgery in 1995, the surgeon told me, "You're the kind of owner who would spend your life savings to help your dog...you should seriously consider getting pet insurance." It made sense, so after looking into it, I signed up with VPI. 20 years, 3 dogs, and 4 very expensive surgeries later, I couldn't be happier with my decision. The value and piece of mind is more than worth it.

Thankful to Pet Insurance

Living in the age of information can be overwhelming, every day it seems like information is being thrown at us, whether it's print, TV/radio, internet, social media, etc... We get strong opinions shoved our way that we never asked for that add to the confusion- pet insurance being no different. Do get your dog pet insurance; don't waste money on that! Who's right? What if it IS a waste of money?? Ultimately, we listened to our intuition and opted for a pet insurance policy with VPI, but naturally we had to wonder if it really was money well-spent. What if he never needs it; he's young and healthy. Roughly 3 years later we would find that we needed our policy not once, but twice. Both instances were several months apart and untreated to each other, but both came at times when having hundreds of dollars in vet bills couldn't have been more problematic; IF we didn't have the VPI policy. Submitting a claim was easy, I wasn't sure if every items was something covered or not, but VPI does all the reviewing for you. Within a couple of weeks we received checks and everything fell into place nicely. I no longer have the doubt about whether pet insurance is worth it or not; it is. We've since gotten a kitten, he too has his own policy now.

Long time VIP user

My dogs are 11 and 12. I've used VIP a long time, but since they've got older I'm not pleased with VIP. My female had a urinary infection that just could not get ride of. The test and meds were a total of $1300. I thought this was pretty straight forward, I have the best plan I could buy. They denied the claim said they needed more information! It's a urinary tract infection! I also filed one awhile back on my other dog with same response . I lost a dog to cancer last year and it cost me over $30 plus postage to mail all my records and when he died, the compassion was non existent. VIP you have changed!! What Happened ? I used to be so happy with you.

Well worth it

We decided to get VPI insurance when we brought home our 2 french bulldog puppies - unfortunately I picked up the policy for our female after we had her spayed. I learned with our male and had his policy in force before he was scheduled to be neutered. Our vet bill for the neutering was around $418 (including shots, flea medicine, heartworm, etc), of which VPI reimbursed us around $408. We have the wellness plan as well, which picked up the cost of flea/heartworm medicine. I received the reimbursement into my bank account within 7 days of submitting the claim. Very quick and easy!
