Tries to avoid payment and find preexisting conditions where there isn't any.

I took my dog in for a cough. The first appointment was covered without issue, but when I had to refill his prescription it seemed like Nationwide did not want to cover it. I had to send my pets entire medical history. I saw a vet nearly a year ago and mentioned he had discharge from his eye, the discharge was normal and went away on its own but was still in the medical history. Also, in the history the same vet had mentioned she wanted my dog to loose 3 lbs (he's a larger breed so 3 pounds is not much). The following appts. were with a different vet who never saw the discharge and didn't think the weight was an issue so it was never updated or mentioned in the medical history again, but now Nationwide has obesity and eye issues as a preexisting condition. I am being told I have. to go to the vet and have them explicitly write that these are not issues.

Excellent Coverage/Ease of Claim Submissions

So far, excellent coverage on well visits and preventative care as well as unexpected issues that come up. Well worth it to have insurance coverage for your pets, absolutely. Also, it’s very easy to submit claims and receive reimbursement directly to your bank account (especially if you use the VitusVet app).

waited too long for a claim to go through

We have received money back for almost every claim we have submitted. One was denied (round worm) because she contracted it before she was covered. We did have to wait almost 2 months for quite a few claims to go through because her leg fracture had to be looked into further by Nationwide. So, that held up all of the other claims we put in. But, we did receive out money for the fracture and everything else that we had submitted.
