I reviewed 4 companies …

I chose 4 different pet insurance companies to review. I got a quote from each of them and made a chart up to review the coverage for injury, illness and wellness as well as the deductible and monthly payments. It took some time to figure out what I really needed and how they compared, but Nationwide worked best for my needs and budget. Their customer service was also very helpful in providing details of coverage which was helpful in decision making.

Forgive me for not recalling the name…

Forgive me for not recalling the name of the agent that assisted me, however he was excellent explained very clearly and quickly what it was the policy covered. I was very comfortable with what was quoted and being that it was affordable, went ahead and covered the policy for the year. I feel good about obtaining coverage for my pet. Who is now a member of my family. And appreciate that there is even such an option to cover anything that may potentially come up regarding her health. Overall, My time on the phone and applying for her coverage was stellar and I appreciate the excellent customer service.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
