Healthy Paws | Pet Insurance Review

My 8-month old puppy grabbed a piece of raw meat off the counter and gulped it down, including the small metal skewer that was stuck in it. We rushed him to the hospital where x-rays confirmed he would need emergency surgery to keep the skewer from puncturing his intestines. Once we got him home (safe and sound), I filed the claim with Health Paws. The best advice I can give to any pet parent is to get pet insurance on your dog/cat as soon as you adopt them. I waited to get insurance until my dog Rocky was 8 and our dog Rilo was 2. About 10 months after I had the insurance the vet found a mast cell tumor (cancer) on our dog Rocky's leg. Long story short the total cost for everything was nearly $4,000 but I opted for the 90% coverage so it was mostly taken care of by Healthy Paws. The good news is the removed all of the cancer, no signs of spreading and Rocky is in the clear. It's such a huge relief to know that we don't have to worry about medical emergencies or illnesses for our 2 dogs. I typically receive a check within 5 days of filing the claim via Email. That's incredibly quick. I researched pet insurance for months before I finally decided on Healthy Paws. I'd definitely recommend them.
