My daughter had a good experience with the coverage

My daughter bought the insurance and had a claim and everything went smoothly. When processing the claim, there were no surprises and the claim was played promptly. That is why we also got the same insurance.

Monthly Premiums Increase Every Year

We’ve had a policy on our cat, Piggy Grace, since October 2018. Every year, our monthly premium has increased by a few dollars, with no explanation for the increase. This year, when her policy renews in October, our monthly premium will increase by $10! This moves us from $33 a month to $43 dollars a month. Again, no explanation given for the increase. Piggy Grace was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in December 2019. Therefore, we are unable to look for more affordable coverage because all other insurance companies classify the CKD as a pre-existing condition and won’t cover her medical treatments. This leaves us with two options: reduce Piggy’s annual limit and/or reduce her reimbursement percentage, or cancel our policy. Neither option is in her best interest. Raising monthly premiums this drastically puts many pet guardians of a sick animal in a difficult position and forces them to make hard decisions. A diagnosis of CKD is heartbreaking on many levels. The only consolation we had was knowing that we could provide the absolute best care for Piggy because of her insurance. 09/15/2021 update in response to the reply from ASPCA Pet Health Insurance on this review: I emailed your customer service to discuss this issue (no one ever replied to the email or called me). I called customer service today: first, let me say that the representative was very kind and as helpful as she could be in this situation. However, she gave me the same answer that you gave on this review. She could only offer the advice of reducing our annual coverage or increasing our deductible to keep our monthly premium at a lower rate. Once again, no one has been able to explain to me why our monthly premium is increasing by $10! So frustrating.

I called customer service to add the…

I called customer service to add the preventive pet care that is free and I waited literally for 20 minutes on the line on hold hoping I could speak to a customer service representative. The machine tells you if you want to be called back, and they will hold your spot on line. I couldn't wait on hold anymore so I did that option. They did not call me back, in fact I am still waiting on hold. Due to this, I am cancelling this service and will go with another company for my pet insurance. This is ridiculous! I could only imagine how my family would be treated if one of my kittens got hurt, and by the way I have two female precious kittens who we love to death, which is why we purchased medical insurance in the first place. Good luck to everyone else who has had a positive experience, however for us, this is our first time purchasing pet insurance, and our first time owning cats. We are dog people. Our beloved Richie, my siberian husky died of cancer. We didn't have pet insurance and could not afford chemotherapy for him. They wanted 10.000 dollars for it. Absolutely not, Richie was 12 1/2 yrs old, a senior dog who we had since he was four months old. Quite frankly, pet insurance did not exist when we got him in 2007, now we go to purchase pet insurance and we get no call backs or responses? I am sorry, but I will not take chances with my babies.
