You never know

Last month my puggle Chloe ate one grape that unfortunately fell on the floor. I remember reading in the ASPCA pamphlet that grapes/raisins can be extremely toxic to dogs. Since this happened on a Sunday, I called an emergency animal hospital in my area. They told me to bring her in immediately, since her kidneys could shut down.(even from one grape) Upon arriving the doctor told me that there was a chance that Chole would have to stay in the hospital for a couple of days hooked up to an I.V. if she wasn't able to expel the grape. The vet induced vomiting and thankfully Chole was fine and able to go home that night. I submitted my claim and was kept informed of its progress via e-mail. I received a reimbursement check in less than one month!

Thank Heavens for ASPCA Pet Insurance

I decided to get pet insurance when my husband and I adopted our first puppy at 3 months old. We adopted a puppy from a rescue and within 24 hours of getting the puppy home it came down with Parvo, once recovered from Parvo he got Kennel Cough and then rounded out with a bout of Phenomena. Needless to say he earned his name, Murphy's Law. After we nursed our little guy back to health we looked into various pet insurances (thinking if the beginning was any indication of this dog - we needed to cover our bases). ASPCA is the best pet insurance out there (even better the the insurance our Vet recommended.) Before signing up I was able to call and talk to someone about all my questions and walk through a couple scenarios ( this enabled me to see which insurance was easiest and I got the most money returned to me). ASPCA won out my a landslide. Just in time too, as our puppy got fixed he was allergic to some of the medications that were prescribed and then shortly after got bit by a tick that caused some awful temporary paralysis. These unexpected claims were sent off, responded to in a quickly manner and then we received money back. We even got a phone call from a ASPCA representative to check in with us to see how Murphy was doing - they noticed we had a few claims recently and wanted to insure Murphy was better and that he was receiving everything he needed. All in all ASPCA has made owning a high maintenance dog, somewhat easy!

ASPCA Insurance Review

My 13 year old cat had a ruptured anal gland. I took her to the 24 hour emergency vet first, then followed up with a visit to her normal vet. I was reimbursed almost completely for her normal vet visit, but the emergency vet had some pretty high fees, so not everything was covered to the 80%. That's ok, though, I was glad to get back at least part of the money I had spent. I did feel like I needed to keep checking on the reimbursement though, because it took quite a while to get resolved.
