ASPCA | Pet Insurance Review

My dog has had health issues since the 2nd month I had him. I got health coverage for him after his first incident and have had more medical situations with him than I can count and Pet's Health has covered them all. I recommend pet insurance to all my friends and family!!!!

I decided to buy pet insurance because Chaz, my Pembroke Welsh Corgi was a rescue and one year old when I adopted him. I had no way of knowing if there were health issues with him. As it happened, he contracted kennel cough almost immediately after I brought him home and after several hundred dollars in vet bills, I signed up with ASPCA Insurance. Since then he has had stomach issues and emergency room visits that were costly as well as normal care each year and I the insurance has really paid for itself. I think all pet owners should have some form of insurance for them as they are like children. They can't take care of themselves.

I adopted two Bichon Frise pups in March 2006. While in the vet's office one day, I picked up an ASPCA brochure on pet health insurance. It sounded like a good idea, but I was skeptical that it would be worth the cost. In October 2010 the male Bichon snapped the ACL in his left hind leg and had to have immediate surgery - estimated cost $1100. I saved the itemized bills from the surgery and the follow-up care, went online and printed a claim form, and mailed the package to the insurance company. Within four weeks of mailing the package, I received a check for $654 of the approximate $1100 bill. I suddenly realized that purchasing pet health insurance was the best investment I had made since becoming a pet owner. Not only did it provide peace of mind for me, but it made it financially possible for my pet to receive the best quality of care needed as a result of the accident. I am proud to be an ASPCA customer and to recommend ASPCA Pet Health Insurance to every pet owner who values the health and well being of their pets.

We discussed covered details on the phone with a rep in detail before we purchased; the info proved not to be true. When we made a claim they kept finding reasons not to cover....after we addressed the first one they then came up with another that we not ever mentioned. We thought it was a scam not to pay a claim.

Last year my sweet adopted dog,Spot became very I'll. She had a severe kidney infection that required much medical attention. I was trying to work and take care of Spot-every pay check was going towards her health care and as I saved the bills to hopefully be reimbursed for a portion of her care I didn't have time to send in her claims. As soon as Spot finished a six week round of antibiotics the vet told me she had another infection. This went on for six months. One night when I arrived home from work Spot seemed unusually energetic. I thought wow this is great -she was racing around full of energy and I thought finally she is feeling better than ever. Unfortunately when I went into another room I saw a few left over crumbs that had been part of a very rich chocolate birthday cake. I called an emergency care clinic and described her symptoms and needless to say she spent the night receiving more care. Meanwhile she continued to get reoccurring bladder and kidney infections and was sent to a specialists-more tests-and I was really worried about Spot and of course it was getting out of hand financially. I was out of my home state at the time and after finishing up my seasonal job I returned home and consulted my vet who consulted all the vets that had taken care of Spot. A plan was put in place to give her antibiotics the first five days of each month and I am very happy to say that she is once again healthy and back to her energetic self. When I arrived home I put all her med
