I am new to pet insurance

I am new to pet insurance. So far the process seems to benefit the insurance co not the insured. Time will tell. Hopefully I will never need the use the coverage but it is there and I think I’ve added enough extra benefit riders to cover exclusions.

Came in Handy!

Took our lil dude to get fixed and he sailed through the surgery just great and I put it all in the vets hands to turn in all his records, as told by your agent to do, since they had to call poison control I also told them to send all his paper work to you.

luckily I bought pet insurance thru AKC…

luckily I bought pet insurance thru AKC when I did! Five days after I bought it my pup got seriously injured and it has really helped with the payments! the coinsurance sucks since I already met my deductible with the injury policy. I also purchased the wellness policy and I wish it covered more than 50 dollars for flea and tick treatments but for the first year it will be good to cover the vaccinations. so for those two reasons I gave it a 4 star instead of a five star

Monthly Cost

$5 – $90 depending on coverage options chosen.

Coverage

You have a co-pay of 20% after your annual deductible. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

Per incident limit of $1,500 – $8,000 and annual limits of $3,000 – $16,000 depending on your chosen plan.

Deductible

Choose from $100 – $1,000 annual deductible.

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll with no upper age limit. Coverage options available for senior pets.

Waiting Period

Coverage goes into effect one day after enrollment. There is a 5-day wait period for accident claims and 14-day wait period for illness claims. AKC Pet Insurance provides 30 days of accident and illness insurance coverage included with AKC registration for newly registered puppies.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Customizable plans allow you to add-on coverage for inherited and congenital conditions, exam fees and wellness care. Cancer coverage included in base accident and illness plan.
