It took two letters from one of our…

It took two letters from one of our vets to get the claims disputes resolved. With the help of the AKC agent, Adam, they finally were, and todate, all pending claims have been honored. Adam is certainly a credit to the company.

Online portal (new!), reasonable claim pay times

UPDATE: I’ve spoken with the folks at AKC and they’ve added online portal access. I’ve changed my stars from 3 to 5 to reflect this ease of use addition! I'm pleased with the coverage our pupperino gets through AKC Pet Insurance/PetPartners. I'm not wild about (and have reviewed on this topic before) that there is no online portal to review coverage, benefits used, etc. I've received a response from the company that I can reach out at any time, which is great; but in an age of self-help portals and instant gratification, I don't want to wait for an email response.

Monthly Cost

$5 – $90 depending on coverage options chosen.

Coverage

You have a co-pay of 20% after your annual deductible. The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.

Payout Limits

Per incident limit of $1,500 – $8,000 and annual limits of $3,000 – $16,000 depending on your chosen plan.

Deductible

Choose from $100 – $1,000 annual deductible.

Age Limits

Pets must be at least 8 weeks old to enroll with no upper age limit. Coverage options available for senior pets.

Waiting Period

Coverage goes into effect one day after enrollment. There is a 5-day wait period for accident claims and 14-day wait period for illness claims. AKC Pet Insurance provides 30 days of accident and illness insurance coverage included with AKC registration for newly registered puppies.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered. Customizable plans allow you to add-on coverage for inherited and congenital conditions, exam fees and wellness care. Cancer coverage included in base accident and illness plan.
