"Turned Away with a Sick Kitten – 'Fully Booked' Means 'We Don’t Care'"" I adopted a kitten (Tom Sawyer) from the Humane Society just days ago when he developed a severe, worsening cough. Desperate for help, I contacted Hickman Run Animal Hospital—only to be met with what sounded like a pre-recorded brush-off: ‘We’re fully booked.’ No attempt to triage, no emergency slot, no concern whatsoever. I understand appointments fill up. But I also know that the veterinarians here once took an oath to prioritize animal welfare. If even a newly adopted, visibly ill kitten *doesn’t qualify for a 5-minute exam, then this clinic’s priorities are clear: Profit over compassion.* Shame on you for reducing medicine to a reservation system. Real vets—the kind who earned their diplomas to help animals— would have found a way. Hickman Run’s staff? They’ve made their choice. Hope the extra appointment revenue eases their consciences."

Hickman Run has been our vet for years now. They always make an effort to get us in promptly, especially when my outdoor cats need attention for their battle wounds.

Took this little guy in today for an emergency visit today. Even though they were triple-booked, they still managed to get him seen and provided excellent care. I could not be more thankful and appreciative. They are absolutely the best around, and that is why they are our FAMILY VETERINARIAN 🐶❤👍

My shepherd was puking excessively and passing diarrhea, both of which contained blood. I was worried sick and couldn't find anywhere to get him in. His regular vet was extremely booked, and even the emergency animal hospital said we'd be waiting forever. I was fine with that but preferred to get him somewhere fast with how much and how often he was puking. I called this place and she said they were appointment only, but asked me what was going on and managed to squeeze me in. They sent us home with 4 different medications, and my shepherd seems to be improving. He's only puked a little once when we got home, but since I started medicine that night, he hasn't puked and has had a somewhat solid stool with no visible blood! I've never been so happy, I was really worried it was going to be something terrible. Overall, they squeezed me in and were super nice about everything. They also had to deal with my shepherd causing a scene during the xray, I could literally hear him screaming the entire time😅 And the vet bill wasn't anywhere as bad as I thought it would be! Thank you guys for getting him in and taking care of my baby!
