How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I have been with Banfield for my pet and now my partner's pet for about 7 years, and I am extremely disappointed in my last two visits. I no longer feel confident trusting this office with my pets' care. At my most recent appointment, I arrived and was told by the receptionist that my doctor had been bitten on Friday and would not be in today. I truly hope the doctor is doing well, because things like this happen, but with several days of notice I would expect a corporate clinic like Banfield to either find coverage or at least notify me that my appointment was canceled. I received no call, no automated message, and no communication of any kind. This resulted in more than an hour of driving in rush hour for an appointment that could have easily been rescheduled. At the appointment before this, my older dog Stella was limping and we brought her in for an injury evaluation. Dr. Carrington Joel Stephenson treated her, and his manner felt cold and overly clinical. He told me my ten-year-old golden retriever would need to be sedated (for an additional fee) in order to take x-rays. I later sought a second opinion from a non-Banfield veterinarian who was able to x-ray her without sedation and was surprised that sedation had even been recommended. The reason I stayed with this location was because the techs and assistants are wonderful. They consistently show genuine care and compassion during both routine visits and stressful moments. It is unfortunate that the doctors and administrative processes do not provide the same level of care. After years of loyalty, these recent experiences have made me reconsider continuing services at this Banfield location.

Worst Banfield I have ever experienced. Do not trust them with your pets. I called at 4:03 pm to confirm the location because it was very hard to find. I was told they had parking and that the clinic was on second floor on a back street. I arrived with my dog at 4:11 pm. This was our first visit. The location was genuinely difficult to locate, and no one mentioned there was a strict 10 minute late policy. The front desk staff member, Alex, told me I missed the appointment because I was one minute past the 10 minute window. There was no flexibility, no empathy, and no attempt to help, despite knowing it was my first time and that I had just called for directions. Customer service was dismissive and unprofessional. If they are this rigid and uncaring with pet owners, I would not feel comfortable trusting them with animal care. Always trust the Yelp reviews. This place is exactly as bad as people say.

Banfield has been the best, reliable and patient with me. I am a dog mom who always calls in tears or have the weirdest questions and concerns about everything that goes on with my spoiled puppy dog! And they never blink twice they just help me and my puppy dog feel better. I love Banfield they have been my rock for the past 5 yrs! Thank you for being Banfield!

Banfield has been taking care of my pets for some time now. It’s always fantastic. Today’s visit was no different. Dr. Stephenson was great. And Kayla was very helpful and knowledgeable.
