How to Save on Veterinary Costs at North County Animal Hospital
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We took our puppy for her first vet visit and worked with Dr. Maxey. She was amazing!! Took the time to explain all the different vaccines that our pup would need and why. Made sure all our questions were answered before we left. Would definitely recommend!

I’m not sure who can afford the treatment plans this clinic proposes for their clients. I had an 11 year old beagle they tried to tell me needed a dental cleaning for $1,100 under anesthesia. This dog also had a severe itching problem, Apoquel was the only thing that kept her comfortable. North County charged almost $200 per month for this prescription. I ended up driving 3 hours away to my moms house in Yakima to a vet who prescribed it for $50 and refilled it for her for years without needing to be seen. Without this my dog would have spent her last few years alive miserable. I have a kitten who ended up with a false positive feline immunodeficiency test from North County requiring expensive additional testing that ended up not being necessary. This same cat (who ended up being very healthy) recently had an abscess and the proposed treatment including updating her vaccines was $1,200. I have a very healthy 3 year old lab who they will not prescribe flea medication or give any vaccinations unless they have an updated physical every year (my own children can get vaccinated without such stringent requirements). I now just take her to the mobile vet clinic for a fraction of the price. Their practice is so exorbitantly expensive that my pets actually get less care because I’m more likely to treat at home or just go without.

I love our boys' Veterinary Hospital - I know that my little fur babies are getting exceptional care and personalized wellness here. I trust these doctors with their care and highly recommend them for your pets healthcare. We are very thankful for such dedicated physicians.

Changing my review to a 1 star. Was told miss information and was given an attitude over the phone. Be aware, I tried to schedule a booster shot but at the time I was told to call 4 weeks later to get in and denied my request to have this scheduled, today is 4 weeks later so when I called to get her in I was met with an attitude that “ that didn’t happen, we don’t do that”. Staff needs better training and needs to all have the same rules. Very misleading.
