How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Northwest Equine Veterinary Associates
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Northwest Equine has provided thorough and thoughtful care for our herd. Dr. Brandes has been super helpful in navigating and treating a PPID diagnosis and helping keep our seniors in great shape- she has answered many questions for me! I appreciate the doctors and staff, and am glad to be established with this practice if an emergency need ever arises.

When it comes to reliable emergency Equine services, these guys are excellent! The vets there are always top notch. Dr Woodard helped me a couple months ago with my gelding and did a great job!

I've used NW Equine Vet for routine care and have had nothing but excellent experiences from the office, vet and assistants. I was really pleasantly surprised when the office called me for a reminder of my horse's annual check-up for his teeth. This worked out great for me because I had been thinking I needed to make an appointment just a few days before but with the holidays it had slipped my mind. I wish more vet clinics did this (phone reminder) rather than some who just send out reminder post-cards. Easy to just book an appointment on the spot when I'm already talking with them. Big kudos for that. :) Dr. Katherine Sickler has a great memory, and is very professional. :) There were zero surprises, they send you a high/low cost estimate up front when you book a standard procedure so you can plan ahead for the appointment. Overall I am really happy with NW Equine Vet and highly recommend them.

Nw Equine Vets care about the horses as if they are their own. They have a genuinely caring attitude about their clients and I wouldnt choose anyone else to keep my horses happy and healthy! They have been a pleasure to work with. My horses love their visits too because they get their treats on every visit ;)

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS VET. They wanted to put my horse down for the WRONG REASON. Their explanation of my horse's x-rays and situation did not make sense to me so I got a second opinion which referred me to a third vet. My horse eventually died but NOT from what Northwest said that he had. If Northwest tells you to put your horse down and their explanation does not make sense to you - get a second opinion. Also I believe that they are WAY over priced.
