How to Save Money at Maple Lane Veterinary Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Maple Lane is great when it comes to your pet. They will def do right by your pet, very friendly and nice and a great place to go. That being said, I have went there for something miniscule, like a ripped out claw, or ear mites. And every time, it seems like they try to keep him overnight even though it's not necessary, as well as do a bunch of other things that I never asked for and charge me for it. Yes I love my pet but I'm not trying to break my bank over something very small, and staying overnight just costs that much more. Last time I went, it was for a torn out claw and ear mites, they kept him overnight, and then charged me $400 dollars. In the pic below, this is what you have to look forward to if you take your pet there. After all this, it's for the betterment of my pet so, I can't be mad. They really do a great job.

I’m sure Maple Lane is kind to the pets in their care but unfortunately, our dogs weren’t able to stay. We had booked a kennel stay for our two, medium sized dogs (35 lbs and 45lbs) for a week and long story short, be careful about the compounding prices. The various, mandatory tests, vet care, and kennel services add up VERY quickly, to the point we simply couldn’t afford it (it was more than our rent payment) and had to scramble to find pet care on the morning we were leaving. I gave Maple Lane two stars though because when we decided we just couldn’t board our dogs there, they did let us pick up our pups after hours and they gave us a call to follow up about my previous review. They’re professional and care for your pet but the prices do get away from you so watch out or at least be prepared.

Maple Lane is great with all of our pets! They always answer all of our questions, take their time with our fur-babies, and are understanding and compassionate, even with two of our very anxious dogs! They always make time when our pets need to be seen right away. Thanks to all of the staff at Maple Lane for taking such good care of all of our babies!

Welcoming and familiar faces to make a visit very comfortable. Dr Anne has been taking care of Georgia (14 yro) and Panther (9yro) for some time now. Georgia has some arthritis and since she takes a monthly dose of Solensia she's playful like a kitten again! Panther... we are working successfully thru feline leukemia. Dr. Anne has made great suggestions to keep Panther thriving and created a maintenance plan at home for us to have has much quality time as possible with our furry friend. Maple Lane is awesome!!!

I brought my cat in for help with an upper respitory infection. The vet wanted several tests done and the estimate I was given was over $275. When given this estimate, I asked to talk with the vet about my options, since he had seen vets before for the same issue and some of the tests were unnessary. The vet was not willing to come back and talk with me about his care or treatment and instead had her assistants offer me a credit card for paying for the services, unwilling to exclude one of the tests. The vet had already confirmed it had gone from a virus to a bacterial infection. I had to shell out $55 for them to weigh my cat and take his temperature. I would not recommend this office to anyone. Shame on you for sharing my name online. Please respect my privacy as a patient. Sadly, the only reason I will get a response now is due to my online complaint, though when I was in office, the assistant refused to go get the vet back to talk with me.
