How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Shenandoah Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Very concerned about my visit. Took my dog in and was told he was in critical condition. They needed $1000.00 deposit to wotlrk on him. One hour later they wanted $300 to do blood work. Thirty minutes he was ready to go home with no diagnosis. Could not find anything wrong with him. He could not walk in but he walked out two hours later. My total will was over $700.00. Left in the dark what was even wrong with him. He has been fine since then. Scratching my hear and shocked at the cost.

I never went and wasn't a "Client", but when I called and asked if they did house calls for pets I was told I had to be an "Established Client" in order for them to even to consider to come and see my pet...

I can not say enough praises about the practice. The staff is unbelievable and go above and beyond when need to be seen or have questions about an issue. I cannot thank them enough!! 2 years ago: New to the practice with a puppy. The visit was great! Staff is incredible and the doctor is very personable with human and animal alike 😀! Plan on transferring my other two pets over as well.

The only place I would take my pets. Dr. Truban is the best!

My mother took her dog in bc his back legs weren't functioning properly. She asked if it was time to put him down due to his age (almost 14yrs old) and was told he still had a lot of life in him and sent him home with meds.. He couldn't walk without assistance or keep his balance. The next day they changed his meds saying he was having a reaction to them. The next morning he cant even get up and walk... we take him in and the lady that assists us pulls him across the scale on his side by his collar and says "he will be fine"... Now $500 later he is not suffering any longer which should have happened in the first place!!!!! This was all uncalled for to make our dog go through the trauma he went through and make our family see him struggle and suffer as well..
