How to Save Money at Fairfax Mobile Veterinary Services

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Dr Saini and his assistant were the model of kindness and professionalism when it came time to say goodbye to our dog. They got us in for a same-day appointment when things took a turn for the worst, and helped our boy move on peacefully. I couldn't have asked for better care from a veterinary team on a very difficult day. Thank you.

Early yesterday evening my 10 year old Australian Cattle Dog mix exhibited emergency symptoms. The 24/7 clinics I contacted were all at capacity, leaving me full of worry. I called Dr. Saini who graciously offered after hour services at his clinic, Cascades Pet Hospital. Here we were greeted by a wonderful staff and my dog had access to all the diagnostic tools necessary for Dr. Saini to evaluate his condition. Today my dog is very comfortable and we have all the information necessary going forward. This is a rare find with individuals who are genuine on all fronts. I cannot say it any better.

My Daisy had her first appointment today and I can’t say enough good things about Daisy’s new vet. He made her so comfortable and explained to us the directions clearly. Wrote down everything so we don’t forget. Can’t said a home appointment was more expensive and Daisy was so much more relaxed in her home with us with her. Pooh on these vet offices that don’t allow you in with your dog. Go with a vet that puts your pet first. Give Fairfax Mobile Veterinary Services a try- you will not be disappointed. 🦮

We had the pleasure of finding Dr. Saini and his staff yesterday as our Golden Retriever was experiencing a severe ear infection and I needed a mobile vet. Dr.Raini didn’t even know us and he quickly responded to my text asking if there were any appts available yesterday and I shared the situation. He and his team came out the same day. He was very knowledgeable and practical. Treated our Golden kindly and with compassion. Took his time explaining the infection and what we needed to do. He also gave him a physical and checked his vaccinations. We also have a Husky that needed shots and Dr. Raini was extremely accommodating and took care of those at the same time. Last night our Golden slept peacefully and calmly. He is much better today...thanks to Dr. Raini. I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was with Fairfax Mobile Veterinary Services. As a dog lover and owner for over 35 years I know a high quality vet when I meet them. We will be switching all our needs to Dr. Raini! PS - His prices were quite comparable with our past vet.

We were skeptical about trying and using a mobile vet for the first time. However, we rescued 2 older cats from the Animal Shelter who are deathly afraid of being put into a car carrier. When Bo's (our white cat) eye seemed to be infected, we tried the car carrier to vet route one more time to no avail. When Dr. Saini and his wonderful assistant, Olivia, came into our house, they were instantly the cat whispering team. Bo sat there calmly while being looked at/treated by the doctor as Olivia stroked and stroked him lovingly. I would and do highly recommend Fairfax Mobile Vet as they are now our new, at-home Vet caregivers for our cats.
