How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Cumberland Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

The people are very kind and caring. The Dr knows her stuff and has trained her staff well. It is a smooth operating facility despite the crazy amount af animals they treat in a day.

They took care care of my dog, right up until he passed from age, and then they took him for cremation and have even sent a card that the whole staff signed. Fantastic people and I 10/10 recommend them!

My experience was less than caring and far from respectful. I had a weekend emergency and didn't get paid till the following week. I was made to leave my credit card info so she would be guaranteed she got paid (Which she did). My cat died while in her care, and I'm not saying his death was her fault, but the total lack of concern and respect was. I was handed my frozen cat and while struggling to carry him and manage the door, no one even bothered to come help me. I would NEVER take another animal of mine to her.

Be aware this facility might have half decent staff but only care about the money not the animal. I understand money is needed to keep a business running but a vet or animal facility is supposed to care more about the animal regardless. After calling three times begging and pleading for help to see my dog who was sick and getting worse. I offered them what money I did have at the time because I desparately needed help but they refused. The only "help" they offered was to have the full estimated amount in hand, apply for care credit. I reached out to Powhtan Animal Hospital who unfortunately were completely booked. But they did refer me to Animal Medical Center who saw my dog immediately as a walk-in and they actually put my dog's needs first. They showed kindess and compassion because they understood how difficult it is to have a very sick animal. I will never take another animal to Cumberland Animal Hospital. I will drive the hour to get to Animal Medical Center to have my animal cared for because I know bottomline my animal will come first.
