As almost all dog parents know, dealing with the end-of-life portion of this wonderful relationship is difficult and painful. We had gone through this a couple of times before and had the procedure done in the vet's office. Our current dog had been sick for sometime, and as we approached the end, we wanted him to go out in one of his favorite spots in the world. This happened to be a patch of grass in the front of our house where he would lay in the sun for hours at a time, roll around until covered in dry grass clippings, and then return to the house to spread his dried grass all over the house. We will miss that terribly. Last weekend, he stopped eating (including his dog treats), and we knew it was time. Our vet did not provide the at-home service, and that is where Dr. Magill (Jennifer) came into the picture. We did an internet search and came upon her practice, seeing that she provided this service and had many excellent reviews online. Well, here is one more. We reached out to Jennifer over the weekend, and she was able to come out on Monday afternoon. She provided a detailed cost estimate and contacted our current vet to get the information she needed about our dog. Jennifer arrived within the time window she provided us, and in the face of three grieving family members, she offered a sense of empathy and professionalism that put us at ease. Despite never having met us or our dog before, she spent time getting to know him. She explained the process, and when we were ready, we headed to his spot. The process went exactly as Jennifer explained, with one exception. As I mentioned earlier, he had pretty much stopped eating over the weekend. Once we got him situated and she had given him a sedative, she got him to eat some dog treats and half a jar of baby food she had brought. It was so good to see him eat and made us feel so much better that he did not leave us on an empty stomach. This might sound silly but our dog was a hound and before he fell ill, food was the focus of his world. The procedure finished up, and Jennifer quietly removed herself to let us spend our last moments with our dear friend and family member. If you are in a similar situation and wish to have your furry family member leave this world from their home, we strongly recommend considering the services of Dr. Magill. Moreover, our experience with Dr. Magill has opened our eyes to at-home veterinary house calls. If we were to get another dog, this is a service we would likely seek for all of our dog's care.

She is very gentle and quietly anticipated our kitty's needs. It was all about our cat's comfort and us being there as we sadly said goodbye. Her calm approach made our last moments special. It was a sad time, but it was the best possible passing for our sweet little girl.

My wife and I did not want to add the stress of a trip to the vet office to our dog's last day and our regular vet had stopped making house calls. They reccomended Dr. Magill and we are grateful for that referal and the exceptionaly gentle and compassionate care provided.
