How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Charlottesville Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

The staff and vets are exceptional at Charlottesville Veterinary Hospital. I have used their services for over 15 years. They've always been kind and informative to my dogs. The staff engaged me like they are a part of the family.

We used this vets office several years ago and have since moved to a new city. When our pup (Q) ended up with a pretty nasty hematoma (ear) our current vet recommended surgery but they were 3-4 weeks out, as were four other vets in our area. I called back home and they were able to get us in next day. The surgery went well and we were set for suture removal two weeks later. We had problems with keeping her bandaged and questions about discharge. They helped us including looking at photos we sent via text. Super convenient since we weren't near by. When we returned for suture removal the vet took a look at the ear she asked if we could wait an additional week so Q could heal more with the stability of the stitches. We agreed as we live only an hour away. We just got them removed, which also went smoothly. She is looking great and we are hopeful it won't come back. Are they the cheapest option? No, but other than low cost/income based facilities they are in the ball park. Are they some of the best vets we've had? Yes! We will not hesitate to use their office as well as our current vet. The care Q, and we, received was top notch.
