How to Save Money at Lehi Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

(Sorry for the long review, but it’s deserved) My wife and I got a puppy at the beginning of this year and I had been looking around at where to spay her since then. I couldn’t really get a solid scheduled appointment anywhere, some places were difficult or most places were booked up and ridiculously overpriced. I called the Lehi Animal Hospital and they immediately had available appointments in time to spay before her first heat and at a great price! I was nervous leading up to this day and just hoping that they would do a good job. And I’m pleased to say that they did more than just good, they did an excellent job on our puppy. Our little girl is happy and healthy and back at home with us! I would recommend this wonderful establishment to anyone looking for a place that loves and cares pets as much as you do. For anyone looking for a pet hospital that they can trust, the Lehi Animal Hospital is the way to go! 10/10, 5 stars, would recommend for a friend! Thank you to the amazing staff at Lehi Animal Hospital!

If I could give them more than 5 stars I would! They accommodated my cat who needed to get neutered asap and got his procedure literally the next day. The cost of it all was a major plus considering what everyone out there is charging and it was all super fast. Dropped him off by 8:45am ish and got a call by 11am he was ready to be picked up. For everyone looking for a nice, affordable place to get their felines neutered/ spayed then this is the place for you! 🙌🏽

My 13 year old Jack Russell’s health quickly deteriorated over the past couple days and my family and I couldn’t stand to watch her suffer anymore. After calling many vets and being turned down because of being fully booked, my brother and I decided to take the risk and just show up without calling or making an appointment. To our surprise and relief, vets quickly came to our rescue and took our little doggy in. The service and the way they treated us and handled everything was incredible. The staff were the nicest people I’ve ever met and helped put her out of her misery no questions asked. Today was the hardest day of my life, and I’m just so grateful that we didn’t have to deal with any issues or problems and I thank Lehi Animal Hospital for that!

We love Dr. Chamberlain! He has been our vet over for 17 years. I have seen him though happy times and sad as we’ve had our dogs in to him through out the years. He’s professional and will tell it to you straight, yet he is so kind and will mourn with you when your going through a loss. I don’t know how he stays so compassionate, but I can’t imagine going through the loss of our dogs without him.

If I could give it 0 stars I would. This place is an absolute SCAM! For one, I waited over an hour to be seen. Second, we went in to renew shots and have our dog's eyes looked at because he was experiencing agitated eyes and a runny nose. They persisted he get an eye stain to see if there was any damage to his eyes -- I explicitly said this wasn't necessary as BOTH of his eyes were agitated and he had a runny nose. I don't think it takes a vet to understand the probability of a cornea scratch being 0% if both eyes are affected with a runny nose... Thirdly, they proceeded to give a physical exam even though I never requested it and our dog had been in just 2 months prior to get neutered. Why would he need a physical exam and charge me $60 for it? They also jumped at the opportunity to try and sell me on a plastic cone of shame to "stop my dog from itching his eyes" -- we already have one and I told them repeatedly he's not overly itching his eyes and that it isn't necessary. Overall, we paid $300 for what should've been ONLY shots and an allergy diagnosis. Never going back and I'd advise you don't take your pet here. They do things without your consent and will pressure you to still do them even if you say no.
