How to Save Money at PetVet365 Pet Hospital Dallas / Southlake

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My wife and I took our 10 year old Lhasa Apso (Oscar) here this morning and had an EXCELLENT experience! This was Oscar’s first visit to the vet in quite some time, so we were reluctant to how he may behave because he is typically a nervous and anxious little fella. The SUPERB service and warmth from the entire PetVet team made our baby feel so safe and comfortable. He enjoyed every second of his time there and warmed up so easily and quickly to all of the staff. We lost our Corgi (Carmine) last weekend and Dr. Denise acknowledged our grief and comforted us with that as well. Since our corgi’s passing, this vet visit was the first time that Oscar has been even slightly engaging and chipper, as he too is grieving tremendously. The visit was VERY thorough. Dr Denise suggested practical and affordable recommendations. We left feeling like we experienced a therapy session for the family. It was GREAT! When it is time for us to get our new puppy in a few months, we will definitely be coming here! Thank you PetVet365!

My regular vet is a mobile vet and that means certain treatments she is unable to do. My puppy was diagnosed with heart-worms despite numerous negative tests and regular preventative treatments. So that led me to look for a vet for this specific treatment protocol. I called on a Sunday afternoon expecting to leave a message. Instead the vet on duty explained to me the protocol and answered my questions. I scheduled an appointment for the next day. The rooms were so welcoming and well set up for both puppy and owner. The staff were gentle and treated puppy as if he was royalty and they were glad to be in his presence. Even offered me a snack. This seems like a great vet. They have texted and called since to check on him and make sure I understand the process and what to expect. They will be my go to for things my regular vet can not do! Why 4 stars and not 5, I prefer a vet that is untraditional and balances eastern and western medicine that is not their approach. But if your preference is traditional western medicine you will probably feel they are 5 star all the way!

We brought our dog in due to some severe allergies. It was a last minute appointment and they were able to get us in the same day! We say Dr. Denise and she was the best!! Our dog is very skittish when it comes to the vet and they made her feel so comfortable and relaxed we were amazed!! Highly recommend this place just for the “fear free” environment alone!! So glad we found this place and will definitely be back!!!

I had a wonderful experience at PetVet 365 with my cats. The staff showed genuine love and care, creating a fear-free environment that made the visit enjoyable. Despite one of my cats being anxious, the doctor and vet techs were able to keep my cat calm throughout the process. It was comforting being in a room dedicated to just cats, and they do have rooms dedicated just for dogs as well. I highly recommend Pet Vet 365 for anyone seeking compassionate care for their furry friends.
