How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Vetco Total Care

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Experience

Ask whether the clinic has experience treating your specific type of pet, since care can vary between dogs, cats, and pocket pets.

Emergency Care Procedures

It’s helpful to understand how the clinic handles after-hours emergencies, including whether they provide emergency services or refer to nearby emergency hospitals.

Communication Preferences

Ask how the clinic communicates with pet parents, including updates, test results, and follow up questions.

Breed Specific Health Considerations

Some breeds may be more prone to certain health conditions. Early awareness can help with prevention and early treatment.

Vetco is inside the Petco. New store. The vet techs there are really nice and patient. My pups first shots and they were very knowledgeable and knew what to do even when my dog started to get a little crazy.

Bummed, we got a puppy 4 weeks ago took him straight to this Vetco for puppy shots and flea/tick/worming prevention. Our first experience was awesome! We were told to come back in 4 weeks to get a booster to one of the vaccinations he’d received. Walked in today, the girl that saw us was a sweetheart with a cute kitty tattoo! However, I was told “unfortunately, you waited too long to bring him back for the booster you will need to start all over again.” So, I’m entirely confused…I called around to 3 different vet clinics, gave them the date of the last shot and they all say it’s fine! So, we have an appointment elsewhere for the booster tomorrow. Then I paid $28 for a trio prevention pill the first visit and today was charged $50.50 for 1 pill. I do not recommend Vetco Georgetown nor will I go back.

Dr. Tripp and Lacy are amazing. They had so much patience and were so kind. My dog has been to the vet a few times in the last 2 weeks with some issues. They took the time he needed as he was nervous and the doctor took time to explain everything with detail and educate me and give me options in terms of care. Very grateful. Thank you!
