How to Save Money at Banfield Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I am beyond upset with the experience I had at Banfield. I brought my dog in for a biopsy, and when I picked her up, I was shocked to find her with a swollen, bloodshot eye. When I asked what had happened, the doctor casually explained that she had been “uncooperative” and had hit her head multiple times on the ground—possibly causing the eye trauma. That explanation is not only disturbing, it’s unacceptable. As a pet parent, I entrusted Banfield with the health and safety of my dog, and I expected a level of care that would prevent this kind of injury. If she was showing signs of distress or was difficult to handle, more compassionate and appropriate restraint methods should have been used—or I should have been contacted. Allowing her to repeatedly harm herself is negligent. To make matters worse, I was told a refund would be issued for the biopsy, but I am still waiting. Now, conveniently, the manager is “unavailable,” and I have received no follow-up or accountability. This entire experience has been heartbreaking and frustrating. Banfield needs to do better—for the pets they treat and the families who trust them. I will not be returning and cannot in good conscience recommend them to anyone who values their pet’s well-being.

Specifically the Alliance office Fort Worth. Nothing but good things to say. Really accommodating to my schedule restrictions. They take good care of my two dogs. Never get to meet the Doctors, but great service nonetheless. Really convenient that the records are shared between other Banfield offices if the need arises to bring my pets to the vet while traveling to other cities/states. Well worth the money.

The front desk staff and vet techs are friendly and treated my dog well that's about where the friendliness ended. My dog has very bad allergies to grass and had gotten 2 infections in about 3 months, the first time they prescribed him antifungals for about 2 weeks but the second time they prescribed him 3 daily pills, daily showers with antifungal shampoo, and mometamax for 30 days. Little did we know mometamax is a steroid typically not used for that long, since his infection was deep we ended up using 3 bottles over the course of the month (which the vet prescribed) by the end of the month his skin was insanely dry i mean his skin on his stomach and chest completely replaced itself coming off in sheets. We would've refrained from using it as much of the vet actually took the time to explain his recommendations but each time we were notified we could pick up our dog we were met with very frantic phone conversations with industry lingo that got us confused with little time to come up with questions. The conversations were short and limited to pricing rather than the issue at hand of why he had an infection, preventatives, and explanations. No vet we had met in the 5 years there took the time to fully explain anything they prescribed and we never met a vet face to face at any given time only over the phone for less than 5 minutes. Not to mention each time we would take our dog for a simple check up he would be there for at LEAST 5 hours with no food or water it seems as he was always very thirst and hungry by the time we got him back. 1/10 would NOT recommend.
