How to Save on Veterinary Costs at VEG ER for Pets

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

We are so thankful for this amazing facility: Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG) for helping our French Bulldog survive a recent and extremely serious heat stroke episode. We were visiting Austin from Michigan when the emergency occured on a Sunday evening. Upon arrival the staff immediately worked to stabilize our dog and kept us updated every step of the way. Every member of the VEG team who worked on our dog was professional and extremely compassionate. We were very lucky our dog survived and we feel it was due to the impeccable care she received at VEG. We highly recommend this outstanding facility for any & all pet emergencies. Thank you VEG!! ❤️

I will have to say I'm very happy we decided to give VEG a try. Our boxer was in labor and our vet recommended just to be on the safe side to bring her into emergency vet to get her checked over since she started labor earlier that morning with no progress. It was her first litter so this was all very new for us. Of course not even 30 minutes after being there she decides to deliver all 8 boxer puppies relatively quick. The team was nothing but amazing during the entire process. Definitely want to give a shout out to Kate who was our primary vet tech that evening helping out and constantly checking on us. But definitely thank you everyone that was working that night that helped out!!!! A week later - Mom and all 8 puppies are healthy, already getting chunky. Definitely will be using y'all again if needed!

We are incredibly grateful that our vet sent us here after our cat ingested flea and tick prevention and was twitching and getting worse. The vet and staff at VEG were amazing. Within minutes they gave her meds that immediately started easing her pain. They were so SO kind, so helpful and informative, professional and beyond sweet to our baby. The snuggles they gave her, whispering words of comfort...I was so touched that they were healers in more ways than one. They brought a comfortable chair for me to sit in and gave me a water so I could sit by her. I felt that she was in the BEST hands possible and we were able to bring her home early because she recovered so well. We also received a hefty refund because she could leave early and I was impressed that they didn't keep her longer than needed. I can't say how impressed I was with the clinic and staff here. I hope to never need to return with any of our 5 pets, but would 100% come to this clinic with this staff. THANK YOU! I would highly recommend this ER clinic

There are something’s in life that we would never imagine going through. I recently had to make a very tough decision to put my sassy down after caring for her for 11 1/2 years. She became sick which led me to VEG. I didn’t know anything about the clinic but there was something that just felt right. From the moment we walked in we were treated so well. They were very caring towards my pet and also toward me. Dr Melis was very informative and patient. She gave me my options and allowed me to decide without any pressure from her. She supported whatever decision that was made. Even in this sad time I was comforted by knowing that I was surrounded by so many genuine and caring individuals. Sassy immediately fell in love with Ignacio he gave her the best back (booty)scratch that she has ever had and he told her “you’re so crispy” lol because of her dry skin. I think that she found her soul mate that night lol and Drew was also so amazing and kind to us. Even after this was over the team has made sure that we felt supported and loved during this difficult time that my family has had to endure. I was greeted with flowers at my door yesterday from the team and I just cried . It feels good to be thought about. Who does that right? I am so honored and blessed to have walked in VEG when I did even under not so great circumstances. You guys are truly God sent and I will never ever forget you. Angels truly walk the face of the Earth! What you guys do changes lives and make the world a better place. Here are a few pictures of Sassy when she was in her prime. The one with her and I was taken this year in March.

On September 28th I noticed my dog was not feeling well. I had this gut feeling to take him in to get checked out even though I had set up an appointment for Monday with our regular vet. Something just kept telling me to take him in. We arrived and were greeted quickly. The vet(I apologize I forgot names) checked Remi out and recommended an ultrasound. As he was scanning he stated he noticed fluid around Remi's heart. I knew immediately that it didn't sound good, but remained calm until I had a further understanding of what this could mean. We went and sat back down and he came over and delivered the bad new to us that Remi most likely was in his last moments. He gave us all our options, but I knew deep down what the right option was, because my baby was suffering. It's very hard to make "that" decision of your best friend of 9 1/2 years. I wanted to be mad at someone or something, but knew that wouldn't resolve anything and knew I needed to be there for my buddy. I knew this was not their fault and I knew this was not the type of news they wanted to deliver. Their job can be hard having to tell a pet parent..."you have to make a hard decision." I wanted to spend more time with Remi, so much more time with him. He got me through a pregnancy, divorce, he moved with me many times, and his love for me when I put him through difficult times never failed. His submissive grin made each day that much better. I knew though...ultimately, it was either let him go peacefully or be selfish and he go in pain. It obviously would never be the latter for me in this situation. Sunday, I lost my best friend and my pups lost their brother. The house seems extra quiet, we have one less bowl, one less dog for potty breaks, and one less fur ball to snuggle. It still doesn't seem real. I've cried daily, but if it weren't for VEG, my experience could have been a lot different. They didn't make me feel ashamed for being in shambles and flowing with tears, they allowed me time before his paws were in the clouds, and even though they still had a job to do....I did feel like they cared, even if I felt alone in those final moments. I cannot remember the nurses name, it started with a "J." I could tell she wanted to cry with me, but that girl kept it together. I can only imagine having to watch me cry over my baby and what that must be like in this field. Having to watch other pet parents go through the final moments with their babies. I applaud you all, I don't think I could watch it happen. I would also be in tears with these families. I have always recognized what doctors, first responders, nurses do, but I have an entirely new appreciation for vets and their staff. You're all God's servants helping animals and their loved ones. I know that one day I will have to experience this two more times.....and I won't even take a moment to think about where to go when I have to make this hard decision again. Thank you for your unwavering support and care as I held my Remi while he made his entrance into heaven.
