How to Save Money at VEG ER for Pets
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Would recommend this location for anything emergency pet related! Hopefully no emergency care will be needed in the future but if we do, we will definitely be returning to this clinic. We could not have asked for better staff to be there. I was on vacation and was FaceTiming into the visit, they kept me informed and involved the entire time. The staff and Dr. Lewis all sat on the floor with our dog and made her feel comfortable prior to any assessments and gave her some pets before doing anything. All questions were answered and diagnosis/treatment/options were clear and concise. Pricing given up front after all options were talked about and decided on. My mom got to stay with her as she was getting sedated, throughout the procedure next to her on the table and was able to hold her as she was waking up, which made us feel so comfortable. We got sent home with thorough discharge instructions, medication info, what to look out for and instructions when we needed to contact them again if needed. Invoice and medical documents were emailed to me after our dog left. In and out within an hour and a half! My mom even hugged staff before she left because they were so helpful and calm through the entire process. Pricing was given up front and although, higher than your normal vet, it is definitely the lowest in the area we have seen. Please remember this is emergency(!) care, your bill will be higher just like human emergency rooms!! We were shocked our bill was as low as it was honestly. We have been to almost every ER vet at this point with our after hours accident prone dog and could not recommend this place enough!

I can’t recommend VEG highly enough. Every staff member, including Luke, Lydia, Dr. Lewis, Dr. Hagan, and others whose names I sadly can’t recall, was incredible in caring for my golden retriever, Lola. She was brought in around midnight after being diagnosed with pancreatitis at an urgent vet, and from the moment we arrived, the team was calm, compassionate, and thorough. Dr. Lewis took the time to clearly explain Lola’s treatment plan without rushing. The staff immediately jumped into action, answered all of my questions, and made sure Lola was comfortable above all else. I also loved that I was able to stay overnight with her in her room, which made a stressful situation so much easier. I always felt like she was in the best possible care and all of the staff were extremely caring and knowledgeable. Lola was able to go home the next day, but every nurse made sure she was never alone, even staying with her when I had to step out. After discharge, they have been just as responsive and kind, answering every question quickly and sending a detailed visit summary to my primary vet without me even asking. Thank you, VEG, for taking such amazing care of my girl.

Lily got stung by a bee on our evening walk, and despite receiving initial treatment from our regular vet, she continued to swell and went into anaphylaxis shortly after our vet closed. We brought her to VEG, and she was immediately seen and given treatment. The staff was so attentive, kind, and reassuring! We were there during a shift change so we saw Dr. Hagan and Dr. Lewis, both of whom were phenomenal. While I hope we never have to come back, I feel so much better knowing VEG and its phenomenal staff are there if we need it!

I cannot thank the team at VEG enough for the incredible care they gave my sweet dog, Luna. She had a severe hot spot that affected her entire back leg and even her face, and as a worried pet parent, I was completely on edge. From the moment we arrived, the staff was compassionate, attentive, and truly calming. A special thank you to Gabbie her soothing demeanor and ability to explain everything so clearly not only comforted Luna but also made me feel reassured throughout the entire visit. The way she handled both my dog’s needs and my own stress was outstanding. Luna received excellent treatment and is now on the road to healing. I left feeling grateful, supported, and confident that she was in the very best hands. VEG is truly a place where both pets and owners are cared for with professionalism and kindness. Highly recommend this team to anyone in need of emergency veterinary care!

I showed up there at 2300 on a Thursday with my 13yo Corgi that somehow had bloat and the ladies who were there to take him in were phenomenal. The Dr on staff and all the technicians were on the ball. Soul crushingly I had to make the call to put my best friend down that night around 0400. They were wonderful in accommodating me and my best friend in that process. The after care too. They even sent me a card they all signed. I’d give them a hundred stars if I could. Thank you everyone who worked that night to save my buddy, you did your best.
