How to Save Money at Loudon County Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Our family just had to make the hardest decision any pet parent can make. We knew the day was coming, but you are never truly prepared to say goodbye. Dr. Kara and her staff were extremely empathetic and more importantly treated our dog Angel with so much kindness and allowed her to cross the rainbow bridge with a little dignity still intact. Phenomenal people work here, and we are so grateful they aided us during this difficult time.

I had to take my cat Lady there unexpectedly and the staff was so kind and fit us in. Kara was amazing and so empathetic to us. She’s an amazing person and vet! The vet tech was wonderful with handling Lady. The next day we brought her back for more testing and Diane was also so wonderful. We have had such a positive experience during a scary time and I highly recommend them! It’s very clear they strive for compassionate care. Thank you for taking such wonderful care of my lady. Forever grateful

If I could add zero stars I WOULD. Attached photo for what they typed in my notes on my profile and sent to the new VET. HOW UNPROFESSIONAL. We have been going to this vet since 2020- I have already left a review on here before for how I was treated over the phone when I called to tell them my dogs staples from her neutered were infected. The doctor has already had to apologize for her staffs behavior and yet we chose to go back. I called recently to get my puppy seen for her first exam as she is a rescue. They made me an over the phone appt for Wednesday but I got a text for Thursday?? So I called and said I work Thursday I need the Wednesday appt promised to me over the phone. They said that appt is gone and they’re sorry but maybe they can see me Monday. (I said ok I’ll just come Thursday and hope to get seen in less than 2 hours. I told them every time I come here I wait an hour before I even get to the back room and then wait another 30 min to talk to a doctor. She said that was NORMAL !!!! Ahhahahaha I said ok take me off the books I’m DONE!! We now go to KARNS ANIMAL CLINIC and I had to take all three of my dogs for a new appt and got ALL THREE dogs to the back room in 15 min of walking in the door. Waited in the back room 2 min and doctor came in promptly and we left all within LESS time it takes to even get looked at , at LOUDON animal. Needless to say if you want a very organized & systematic vet to go to that you can depend on …… DONT GO HERE. My babies are my life and this place is as dysfunctional as ever.

My cat Mittens has arthritis in all 4 of her legs. She got to where she couldn't jump. Dr.L. started her on Salensia once a month and it helped. Dr. L would sit in the floor of the exam room and put Mittens in her lap. Mittens would just melt into her lap. She was getting worse and Dr.L came to our home and put her to sleep. I am looking for another cat and LCAH will always be my vet. The staff is great and I love them all. Thanks to all of you! Mittens loved you all even if you called her grumpy lol. Again love to you all and will see you again as soon as I have a new fur baby. Jane & Roger.
