How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Volunteer Veterinary Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I have been to alot of vets around the Knoxville area. This vet is the best one hands down!! Brought my dog here when he had cancer and they gave me the best advice and helped me with his passing. After that I start to take both of my cats. I have never been more please and happy to have Alisha Harbin take care of my babies!!! She is very attentive and listen to every concern I have and has great advice.

I wish I could give this vet more than 5 stars. We started coming to Volunteer after a not so great experience elsewhere with end of life care for a different dog. We recently had a family pet pass and Dr. Bihl was so kind and caring to our dog. He offered us a pawprint before taking her and doing an exam so we would have peace of mind. In a difference scenario, he looked over my dog’s records after a scary night at the er vet and personally called me to bring her down and do more blood work. He diagnosed my pup and quite literally saved her life. There aren’t enough wonderful things I could say about every single person that works here. From the front office to the people running the kennels to the vets. They not only get people but they understand all pets- from beginning to end of life care. Thank you all for everything you do.

Dr. Bihl has been treating and caring for our fur babies for almost 20 years. You will never find a vet more caring and compassionate than him. He goes above and beyond for the animals and it is clear he has a true heart for all of them. He truly is a fantastic vet. Our family would highly recommend!! Thank you Dr. Bihl for all you do for our kitties!!!

Absolutely love them! They are always so pleasant and helpful. Will not use anyone else as long as we're in Tennessee.

First time at this vet and I was a walk in (my dog had a rough day) not only did they work me in but the amount of time he put in to explain things with me was incredible. Very satisfied, glad to have made the switch! Oh and the rest of the staff are all very friendly and polite as well.
