How to Save Money at Deming Veterinary Services

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My poor cat was in bad shape, apparently from using an off brand flea med that he had an allergic reaction from. It was late in the afternoon on a Friday and the office was very busy and they still made time to see me. Doc gave him an antibiotic & steroid shot and basically saved his life. I’m so grateful she took excellent care of him and explained everything to me, even encouraged me to bring him back Monday morning if he didn’t get to feeling better over the weekend. I highly recommend Dr. Deming to other pet owners. I appreciate her knowledge, experience & professionalism & her staff is also very friendly. You can tell they genuinely care about & love animals & take great care of their customers!❤️

2 star service because Gidget made it alive out of there. Hope they become 5 stars one day :) also very rarely you will be examined by Dr Deming she seems to have a very high caseload to make the big bucks she usually is busy and they seem bothered when you call especially the Vet tech Anna . . Jessica on the other hand was great I do got to say that. Our move to a different vet was the best decision ever! Only time there nice is when there collecting your money I do give them lots of credit I mean who don’t like money. Nothing but high quality service and people who care about you at Bells animal clinic they will bend over backwards for you and never tell you that would be our last resort they give you what you ask for because Bells animal clinic does know we are valued and have the money to drop to them with no problem. Best of Luck to the Deming vet service :)

They've been my vet since I got my cats years ago, and they've always been wonderful. They're patient with people and truly caring with the pets. One of my cats has become diabetic, and they took the time to walk me through exactly how to care for him. (He's going to be ok! Diabetes is treatable with on-going medicine and diet.) Just their reassurances and the patient, clear instructions with the promise to answer any other questions made what was such a scary situation something I could handle. When I went to get him after his blood panel, Dr. Deming was so calm and nonjudgmental when she explained the diagnosis and what that means for now on, even though I could see she had a lobby full of people and pets and was so very busy. Anna (I hope I'm spelling her name correctly) took a good thirty minutes after his blood glucose tests to teach me how to take care of him and to figure out the logistics of feeding both of my cats who are on specific diets now. I had free-fed, and that's no longer possible with a diabetic cat. It hasn't even been a full two days since I got the diagnosis, and, entirely thanks to them, I've gone from panic to believing that this will be manageable and, eventually, routine. They're a small office, so it might take a moment for them to get to you, but that's because they're helping someone else. They move quickly but they always take the time to be sure that each person knows what they need to and that each pet gets the care they need.

Great staff, great vet, all around great people. It’s the only vet I can afford and Dr. Deming is above and beyond the others in her care for our animals. She performed a life saving surgery for fatty (my cat) and Lou Lou my puppy gets to play anytime we leave her up there for the day. They have a cat rescue (Barn Cat Rescue) that helps kitties get homes (u get a fixed cat for $50) can’t beat that. It will cost 3 times that at another vet! Thanks for all y’all do up there!
