How to Save Money at Pet-Agrees Wellness Services

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Sadly, after taking my sister's sick 6 month old cat to the vet, we were told she has FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) and was declining fast. The only suggestion was to euthanize her before it got worse and paralyzed her, inevitably leading her to death. We made an appointment with PAWS and they were so sensitive and kind with servicing us throughout the process. They even went out of their way to sign a sentimental card and send it to us, little things like that let you know businesses like this actually care about their customers. Thank you, PAWS Staff ❤

The "drive thru" idea of this may have worked during COVID but it is inconvenient for me as a customer. I have been there now twice during extreme weather. Once when it was pouring rain and the girl who came to my window didn't have an umbrella and while sighing papers me and my car got soaking wet. The other day it was over 99 degrees when I picked up my dogs. (AC doesn't work as well when a car is idling). I was called to tell me the dogs were ready and when I got there I still waited over 20 min. before anyone came to ask me and no-one answered the phone when I called. The only reason I gave this 3 stars is because the groomer does an excellent job. Based on professionalism and other stuff I would have given it maybe 1 star.

Quick drop off and listened to what I wanted. She looked beautiful at pick up. We were very happy with her cut.

Tuesday July 18th was not a great day for me and my family. Our beloved cat had came down with something. His eyes looked awful. He was unable to eat. He was barely mobile and our Charles can run and jump with the best of them. He was only 2 years old and we were told he had a parasite of some sort and that he had probably had it for weeks. We were told only 10% of Cats make it with treatment and they all suffer along the way. So we choose what we thought was right in putting down. They allowed us in the back and he sat in my oldest sons lap as we all cried and said our goodbyes. The lady working the front came in to remind me it was an extra $90 to put him down. I of course said that was fine. We continue to spend our last bit of time with him and they came in and checked his heartbeat. It was getting slower they said. So we sat and continued to love on what had become all of our best friend and they come in again asking me to come to front when I was done to pay my balance. They checked his heart rate again and said it wasn’t gone but had slowed more and that he wasn’t even there anymore so we could go and pay the girl up front. In our grief we couldn’t see what was happening, but while our best friend died they pushed us out the door and just wanted the check and I let my best friend take his last breath there. Don’t make my mistake.

I had a 1:30 appointment, the first appointment for after lunch. I arrived just before 1:30. I went to the window to check in and the girl at the window just looked at me and then looked away. I waited for a little bit with no acknowledgment of me being there so I called to check in. I was told someone would be out in a few minutes. Just after 2:00 someone came out to see us. They were very unprepared and had to go back inside to check our records. At 2:15 I decided I would wait 5 more minutes before I left. At 2:20 I got in my vehicle and started to leave when I was approached by someone from the clinic. It was the vet. She told me they had two emergencies come in, that’s why they were running late. I don’t have a problem with that, things happen, but they had a receptionist at the front that could have communicated that with me and let me decide whether or not I wanted to wait or not. After talking to her for a few minutes I decided to let her look at my pup. It appeared she was going to conduct her exam and shots outside by my vehicle. Then someone from inside called to her saying she was needed inside and she left. I got back in my vehicle and left. What a waste of time! Won’t be going back! 5/22 Just a follow up to my 2/27 appointment… I received a bill by email for a wellness exam and a heart worm antigen test for this visit. The doctor never did a wellness checkup or heart worm test. I’m not sure what kind of operation they are running there but it is not good!
