How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Clinton Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

This office has been a God send! They have treated my dog, Lady and my cat, Sasha many times and I always leave feeling like they did everything right. My beagle, Lady, has developed diabetes and we’re it not for the careful care and testing done by this office she would not have gotten on insulin and new dog food soon enough! The front desk always helps me with a smile, responds quickly and knowledgeablely. I would highly recommend this office to anyone with pets that love them like family!

I brought both of my babies in to be fixed and needed to reschedule the boy a few times and the experience was amazing. Rescheduling was super easy! They explained all aftercare and anything that I didn’t think to ask was on the info packet they gave me. The ladies in there are also really nice. Will be returning for my girl cats bloodwork cause she’s not gaining weight.

My cat was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and CKD by this facility. I spent $2500 and had her hyperthyroidism treated with radioactive iodine therapy that was performed at another location. The procedure appeared to be successful but my cat became severely lethargic well after the procedure was done. I brought her in to CAH to be checked out and they said that her thyroid levels were good and that this is my new cat because of the normalization of the thyroid. A month goes by and no change in kitty. She didn't seem happy and wasn't herself so I brought her in again. This time, I was mainly looking for any explanation as to why a cat that used to roam her turf daily now only laid on the porch or under it all day every day. I didn't want blood to be drawn or anything invasive done to her because she had been through a lot. While in the waiting room, I noticed a new sign that said "no fleas please". I didn't think much about it but when I seen the vet, she was very condescending and uninterested in my complaints about my cat's behavior. Her answer was her thyroid is normal so this is how she is going to be from now on. She seemed upset that I wouldn't let her run bloodwork or do any diagnosing. She then rubbed her hand across my cat's back once and said "you could start by taking care of these fleas" The tone was dripping with disdain. I was surprised because they had seen my cat at least three times in six months and nobody ever mentioned her having fleas. She always has dirt on her back because she likes to go under the porch on hot days and we live in the country. I told the vet this and she said no, that's flea dander and left the room. On my way out, I spent $75 and got Bravecto and treated her myself at home. I felt horrible for my cat but she never scratched at home and I was using OTC topicals on her once a month. After a few days of me brushing the dander out of her coat and keeping her inside, she seemed to look and feel better. She is still lethargic but she appears to be happy again. About three days after I treated her, I became very itchy and started having sores appear on my body. I went to the urgent care and was diagnosed with scabies. I am a very clean and hygienic person so this was very embarrassing for me but after hearing the story of my cat, the Dr. seemed convinced that my cat had mites and I got them when brushing her out. I was pissed when I learned that a vet is supposed to do a skin scrape and test an animal that comes in with parasites. They are supposed to do this to protect both the animals and the owners. It also enables them to use the right medication. This vet and staff was too busy being condescending and righteous to do that. Take this review for what it's worth but I will never go to this business again and I will warn anyone that will listen to stay away. Now for the one star review righteous reply because they are never wrong :(
