How to Save Money at Clarksville Veterinary Emergency & Specialty

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We have found comfort in knowing we have an emergency vet should the time ever arise. My experience made me not feel real great anymore. My cat had a hole form in her neck from a feeding tube removal complication and had food coming out of the side of her neck. We waited from 9pm-12am to even be invited into the building. We waited 12am-1am in a waiting room without ever seeing any staff. We didn’t leave until after 3am. It was miserable and exhausting. The vet was nice but couldn’t do much for our cat so I was out 6.5 hours of my time and $300. I understand they were not staffed very well but maybe work on that? Going 3 hours without any communication was rough as well. I really hope if our pet is ever in need of life saving care, it’s Monday through Friday during work hours.

They saved my bestfriends life!! My pup needed emergency surgery for an obstruction. The entrie staff was above and beyond and extremely professional. Had me in a room immediately and had ultrasound and diagnosis in 15mins. Doctor Nate was amazing, his sense of urgency and kind demeanor, reassured me that Arlo was in good hands. The young ladies at the desk. Special shout out to Ms. Moriah and the young cashier with glasses (sorry forgot her name). You really eased my mind when you came and checked on me and were so dang sweet to my family. I wanted to thank the Doc Miller and Ms. Haley, for calling when you said you would and always answering our questions. Most importantly, full transparency throughout the entire thing. Especially with billing. Absolutely no hidden cost and explained in detail. We can't thank you enough. Now me and my little donut Arlo are resting.

Horrible My dog was actively giving birth to her first Litter she had 7 already home and was tired 3 hours past I called and start setting up the process over the phone so my kennel partner took her in I was hand feeding 7‼️ pups my pregnant female couldn’t be seen till I filled out a linked sent to my phone they wouldn’t let me partner fill it out up there in person mind you we live 35 mins away from this place. So once she got enrolled they took her to a room they left her in there by herself barely came to help one of the pups came out struggling to breathe they instantly gave up on the pup Had no oxygen machine no incubator literally NOTHING‼️ luckily I pre ordered BOTH‼️ and had it on standby at home so we was able to save the puppy they had no sympathy ❤️‍🩹 and was worried about MONEY 💰instead of saving and helping animals I was truly disgusted and will never be going back to this place then had the nerve to say “we consider ourselves Gold rated” if that’s the case I’m Rated platinum. The lady at the front desk was SUPPER RUDE AND CARELESS. The only one that was nice was the actual vet. In all we have 13 puppies all the puppies there came home in a Box 📦 with a towel they need people who actually care about pets and they owners my partner was scared crying and nervous to be left alone in a room and have nonchalant people working at a business like this is disgusting 🤮 I have a strong influence and following in my community and I will be encouraging all my other breeders and clients to never go to this place Spent $600 for one of the worst experiences we have ever had. Our regular vet was close so we had two options take a chance at home or take her in. If I would of known it would of went like this then I would of had the full litter at home since I had to incubate one of the puppies anyway and give oxygen. Now she is eating on her own sleeping and pooping 🥹🙌🏽💯‼️

The staff were extremely thorough and caring with our cat. The vet (can’t remember her name sorry) provided a detailed observations from her examination and went through all options that were available before letting us decide. The level of professionalism and compassion in this facility sets the standard. These folks helped us through tough time and we’ll use them again. Thank you guys.

This animal hospital was completely professional and family oriented. And cared for our little guy Calipari great. Got him through the weekend on a Sunday till we seen our vet during the week. He had a stomach bug that lasted longer than expected but as least we found out here it wasn't poison. They did everything necessary to help our little guy out. I highly recommend them to anyone. They were a big help to getting our little guy well. Also if you have a pet I do highly recommend getting pet insurance because it can get pricey no matter where you go. Whether it's the vet or a animal hospital things tend to mount up. We now have pet insurance and it will be much easier honestly to make payments then how we had to pay out two vet bills and a hospital bill. $1,400 is a lot when you're paying out in three visits in one week, but it was well worth it with our little guy.
