How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Northern Plains Animal Health

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I came in with an after hours emergency and the vet was very kind and understanding. She listened and we came up with a treatment plan that feels right for my cat and for me. Another vet in the area claimed to have after hours services but then refused to come in to see my cat saying "they weren't available tonight." My cat was dehydrated and had respiratory distress. He required multiple medications and fluids. I truly feel he may have become incredibly ill and possibly died had someone not taken the time to see him tonight. I'm happy Northern Plains was available for the visit.

It was an after hour's trip on a Monday night. The staff was very helpful and caring with my English springer spaniel. That wasn't feeling so well.

I brought in my cat for an emergency and the doctor and her assistant were ready, willing, and able to help us. They were concerned and friendly and informative and competent. Definitely five stars.

We have been going to you for year's now with all of our beloved pet's. I have unfortunately been disappointed in your business. I personally like a more personal experience, like it was year's ago when you we're in your smaller building. There is a front desk staff that is absolutely the rudest person I have ever met, she doesn't belong in customer care. A week ago we had to have our beautiful dog out to rest in your facility. Before we left her there to be taken to be creamated I asked them to do her Paw print's for us, they said they would. We had it done with another one of our dog's and just loved it. Well, I called a few days later to ask if I could pick them up. The rude lady up front said " The clay one's or ink one's"? I said The clay one's. Her answer was " We did the ink one's and I mailed them out. So, I didn't get what I asked for and I never received anything in the mail. Than today I finally called the mortuary to ask about Autumn because it's been a week. They have been trying to reach me, at the wrong number. Good grief, what has happened to this place? I do have to add that there are some absolutely amazing staff members there but it has gone down hill since the owners have stepped back.
