How to Save Money at Waterside Veterinary Services
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Highly recommend. The Waterside Veterinary team were friendly and compassionate. Dr. Cecil made sure that all of the diagnostics were as stress free as possible for our cat. All results were explained clearly and options were given in a kind manner. We followed up with our regular Dr the next morning and they agreed with everything that I went over with Dr Cecil. It put us at ease that we were making the right decision to send our cat over the rainbow bridge. The staff called to check up on us and offer their condolences. I will definitely use Waterside Veterinary services in the future if they are needed.

Waterside is the best emergency vet I’ve ever experienced! Everyone on staff is kind and compassionate, and they genuinely care about each animal they take in. Dr. Isabelle has over 20 years of experience, and it shows in the professional and knowledgeable way she interacts with both pets and families. Waterside may be a newer practice, but they are more loving and effective than many practices that have been around for years. No matter if my dog Max needed a dental checkup or a surgery, I know Waterside could handle it while still keeping him calm and happy. Now that I’ve been to Waterside, I wouldn’t bring Max anywhere else!

Upon entering waterside, I was a bit nervous, bringing my girl into a clinic. She’s never been there before. She was obviously uncomfortable and needed immediate care. To my surprise, I was greeted by the amazing vet! This was surprising because almost every clinic I’ve been to before I’ve never been greeted by an actual vet, so it felt very comforting. She proceeded to tell me that she was going to take excellent care of my baby, and I knew she was in good trusting hands. Everyone was so polite and kind as they checked me and my girl Violet in. They helped get her the appropriate care she needs and didn’t charge me much! I ended up paying half of what I thought I would, And even spoke one on one with the doctor and techs (amazingly intelligent) several times! I would highly recommend waterside and will highly recommend waterside to anyone who asks for an ER vet!

Fantastic experience! I highly recommend Waterside, and will absolutely be returning in the event of another emergency. Everyone was very kind and friendly. We got there around 9pm. My dog needed to be sedated for stitches, and he was taking a little while to come back out of the sedation. Dr. Isabelle and a staff member were there past closing time to care for my baby. When he was finally ready almost an hour past 10pm, they both helped me walk him to the car, and Dr. Isabelle even lifted him into the car for me when it was clear he didn't have it in him. He weighs almost 100lbs, and I didn't have anyone with me to help, so this was greatly appreciated. You can tell Dr. Isabelle sincerely cares for the animals. It gives me peace of mind knowing she acts in the animals' best interest while still communicating clearly about the situation, diagnosis/care plan, expectation for recovery, as well as cost.

I cannot say enough wonderful things about this practice! I took my Boston Terrier, Eliza there a few nights ago & The Doctor, the team & the care she received were all absolutely amazing. I never felt rushed, EVERY detail of her condition was explained so thoroughly… it is so obvious that they REALLY CARE about their patients. The team was sympathetic & kind but also very knowledgeable & professional. In addition to being ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT, Dr. Cecil was compassionate, warm & my Eliza was comfortable & totally at ease. Usually my dogs shake nervously at any vets office- (vibrate, actually), but she was so chill & happy- I was shocked- VERY TELLING… A++++++ HIGHLY RECOMMEND
