How to Save on Veterinary Costs at West Ashley Veterinary Clinic
Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance
Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

*this is to replace my previous review. TL;DR: Expensive, deceitful, unnecessary testing and not thorough examinations. Been going here for 10+ years. I have been going here since 2013, and for a while, I thought they were great. But prices have increased, which I get with inflation and all that. But they started pushing services I didn't need without fully explaining the reasons why or willing to discuss alternatives. For example, my cat having plaque, they claimed he needed a dental and was priced at $1k. So, I went elsewhere for a second opinion to another reputable vet. The price was wayyy less, they listened to my concerns for what I felt was needed, what I could afford, and we worked it out. Turns out my cat was so chill they would just scrape the plaque off in the vets office. AND the exam was soooo much more thorough and I was shown the xrays and they discussed everything with me. In all my years at West Ashley Vet, every exam was very surface with no real explanation and extensive prices. Now, last week, I took my dogs. They are 10 years old. I asked for an estimate, thinking I was being smart and not going to be surprised this time. Well, I was very wrong. They did half me two pieces of paper but there were two different prices and I just assumed it was two different prices with different things added on since I was getting the 3 years rabies and maybe one was without. Why would I ask for an estimate, and it's not the full estimate?? But the woman who handed it to me explained nothing to be, didn't tell me it was per dog or anything, just started talking about my dogs playing or something. So we get the exam and tests done and as we leave the internet is down so we can't pay. I come back in the next morning to drop off samples and pay... I expected to pay the $530 on the estimate, but they say it's $1k. I can't not pay now because the tests and exams have been done. What they did when not explaining anything was purposefully devious. I normally pay maybe $400 when they both come in, and now over $600 in tests have been added, and they didn't feel as though any of this should be discussed? Deceitful and absurd. I've spoken to others I knew who apparently had similar experiences. I had been meaning to leave this vet for at least a year now after taking my cats out and experiencing 10000% better and more extensive care with vets who talk to me about their health. Part of this is my fault for not being more thorough and blindly trusting a vet I've been going to for 10 years. But to only have a $23 office visit be waived because they want to check something doesn't mean anything. I told them my concerns, and I hope they listen and inform other customers of the expensive out of the ordinary services they are going to do. Me voicing my concern cannot help my situation, but maybe it can help others. *the day I brought my people-shy Shiba back, a random girl I've never seen, didn't introduce herself. She just sat on the back on my dog with her arm thrown over her neck and wondered why she freaked out. I was so fed up I couldn't even respond, so I'm glad it only lasted 5 seconds. I'm so done with this place and will continue to warn everyone I know about the practices.

I had a wonderful experience at West Ashley Veterinary Clinic with my two boxers. The staff was welcoming and clearly passionate about animals, creating a calming environment. The veterinarians were not only knowledgeable and attentive but also genuinely caring towards my dogs. Their emphasis on preventive care, along with their prompt responsiveness during a health issue, reassured me of their dedication. The clinic's commitment to educating pet owners was evident, as they explained complex concepts in understandable terms. Overall, West Ashley Veterinary Clinic has earned my trust and gratitude for their exceptional care of my boxers.

Dr. Eve Badger and staff are hands down the best of the best! I truly cannot speak more highly of the care and support they have provided myself and my dogs for the last 16+ years. I'm always greeted with a smile and the support we needed with our older and younger dogs. I feel that my questions are always answered thoroughly and patiently. I will never be able to express how greatly I appreciate the amazing care they've always given us.

Outstanding. We moved from NY a while ago and were worried about having to find a new Veterinarian. WA Vet Clinic took that fear away. Our dog can be a bit skittish and temperamental around strangers. The staff did a fantastic job at earning her trust and doing what they needed to do without incident. The veterinarian walked us through everything, and by the end of the visit, our pup was comfortable with her. Highly recommend.

Brought in my elderly cat with urinary issues for a follow up appointment. After waiting two hours without receiving quality care, I decided to leave and go elsewhere (which was a good decision). However, the situation was later rectified by the owner. Dr. Badger properly followed up with me after the negative experience. She not only took the time to explain what transpired on this day, but also made it right and refunded my money. I appreciate the professionalism and genuine concern from Dr. Badger to ensure this type of experience does not happen with future clients.
