How to Save Money at Pets At Peace Vet Care:In-home Euthanasia

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

In home euthanasia was the best choice for our precious Lucy and I can't say enough good things about Jane and Michelle. They handled the situation professionally, gracefully and gently. They were kind, understanding and loving. They made Lucy comfortable and her transition was painless. She was surrounded by the people she loved. I would urge anyone to put their pet to rest at home, and choose Pets at Peace. It was the best possible experience for Lucy and the people who loved her.

When our cat Foofins started his end of life process, we knew that we didn’t want his last experience with us to be in a vets office with the smells of other animals, noises and the stress of travel. We really just wanted him to pass peacefully at home. We had no idea that a service like this was available. When I reached out to Dr. Linden, she responded quickly and professionally. We setup a call and Dr.Linden answered all of our questions with clarity and compassion. This was an important step for us. Not only to clarify the process but the validation of knowing we were making the right decision. Today was our scheduled day to say goodbye and our cat’s health took a turn for the worst. My wife reached out, and Dr.Linden was able to come to us earlier to minimize his suffering. When Dr. Linden and Tech Michelle arrived, I can’t explain it, but they felt more like family. They are a fantastic team. The empathy and compassion they showed us and our boy was more than I have ever witnessed. Having been through the end of life process many times with animals in my life, the service they provided today was truly a blessing. I couldn’t put a price on what they did for us today. They are truly amazing women.

Jane and Michelle helped me through one of the most difficult experiences of my life when I had to say goodbye to my cat, Nubby. I’m crying as I write this, of course because of the fresh loss of my very dear friend, but also because of how compassionate and comforting Jane and Michelle were throughout the entire process. For years it’s been just me and Nubs, and so I was scared to have to do this alone. But I didn’t feel alone. I needed a hand on my shoulder and reassurance that I had done my best, and they gave me that and so much more. I felt very prepared throughout the process and knew what to expect every step of the way. As a tortie, Nubby was always a “spicy” cat, and they helped me feel ready for how she might react to at the very beginning so I wasn’t surprised. And after a very brief, spicy start (honestly, it wouldn’t have been Nubby if she didn’t have a spicy start

If you have the time and flexibility to choose who will perform the almost-sacred rite of euthanizing your pet, I can attest that Pets at Peace not only has the medical expertise but the compassion, empathy and understanding of what your pet......and you......need for this solemn event. Jane and Michelle are a great team, both with years of experience that make this very emotional time a more intimate, loving and meaningful one.

I want to express our appreciation for Dr. Linden and Michelle who recently helped us with saying goodbye to our senior rescue, Mollie. From the moment they arrived, their empathy, gentleness, and respect for both our pet and our emotions made an unbearable day a little more bearable. Their calming presence and sincere compassion meant the world to us. They explained everything, never rushing us, and always giving us the space to grieve and say our goodbyes. The way they cared for our dog in her final moments—with tenderness, dignity, and love—was a gift we will never forget. Dr. Linden and Michelle, thank you again for being there, not just as professionals, but as genuinely caring people. Your compassion brought peace to us when we needed it most. I highly recommend Pets At Peace at-home services to anyone facing the difficult decision of saying goodbye to a beloved pet. Their kindness made all the difference.
