How to Save Money at Slatersville Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My wife and I have 6 pets (3 dogs and 3 cats) we have spent years trying to find the right vet for our pack. We stumbled upon Slatersville a year or two ago now when we were looking for a vet to take us same day. With having multiple animals avoiding the ER and having a vet that accommodates same day appointments is huge. We have been switching our animals from their previous vet to Slatersville despite it being almost an hour drive for us. Doctor Suzanne is awesome and the receptionists are great as well. I also feel as though they are reasonably priced compared to other vets!

After feeling unheard and dismissed by other vets with previous dogs, we decided to bring our new golden pup to Slatersville vet. We were able to make his first puppy appointment within a couple of days (this was in May). Since then, at every appointment I feel each concern is heard and the staff really makes sure what they’re saying is understood. This is my first time raising a puppy on my own, and they have helped my confidence raising him. Thank you Dr. Scott and staff!

Dr Suzanne has taken care of our pets for about 17 years. She has dealt with our dogs health issues including seizures, antibiotic resistant UTI’s, cancers and diabetes. She has always had options for us and we’ve always felt that our opinions mattered. She goes above and beyond for our pets and ourselves. She most recently cared for our Doberman with Diabetes and Lymphoma. When something came up, we always knew she would get us in in a timely manner to see him. When it was his time, the euthanasia process was peaceful and we couldn’t have asked for anything more. It was so obvious that they all truly cared about what we were going through. We received paw prints, nose prints and a beautiful card with his ashes which was so thoughtful . We would absolutely continue to bring any future pets to Dr Suzanne and her staff! We are so grateful to have found such an amazing vet to care for our fur babies.

So many times they have been able to give us same day appointments. Our regular vet recently changed their policy - no more wait-list, and we'd have to call exactly at 8am to get a same-day appointment. I work with offshore team, and at 8am I usually would be jumping from one meeting to another. So thankful Dr Scott and her new facility is around! We went from a one-off one time same-day sick appointment to a regular patient. And oh they retrieved one porcupine quill from our dog. Saving us another trip to the emergency vet down in E Greenwich.

Very clean and inviting environment. Every staff member we had contact with was very nice. We brought our cat in for a concern we had and it didn't feel like they were pushy with anything (didn't jump right to bloodwork or other expensive tests) like I feel other vets have been in the past, also didn't push buying things from them which I appreciated as well. When we've gone to other vets I have always felt like they spend the entire visit just telling me about all the things I should be buying for my cat etc. It was such a refreshing visit and I feel our cat got great care. So glad we made the switch to this vet!
