How to Save on Veterinary Costs at South Bay Veterinary Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I had just arrived from Virginia for a month of vacation in Bonnet Shores, July 2023. My girl is 14 n has bladder cancer n cushings disease. She had blood in her urine on the first day of our vacation. I called n explained the situation and said she was under the care of an oncologist n my veterinarian in Virginia n they asked if I could bring in a urine sample for analysis. They were not asked to examine my girl or treat her. Simply to analyze her urine sample n send results to my vet. Not only did they tell me they would not analyze her urine w out a full examination but that the first appointment was in six weeks. How can u say u care about animals and respond in such an uncaring manner. I have had dogs my entire life and have NEVER had a vet show such disregard for an animal or their family. They should be ashamed!! Their behavior was heartless. I confirmed what I was asking for was legal n did not put the vet at any legal risk. They simply didn’t care. I asked for no time from the doctor expected to be charged but was refused help. This is the second bad experience I had with this practice. About 5 years ago I took my grand dog there n they misdiagnosed her. She passed months later of cancer.

Very professional and accommodating after we felt we needed to find a new veterinarian. They really put us at ease and we are so grateful for their kind care of Pee Wee. Such peace of mind knowing he is fine. Thank you all so much!

After I made an appointment for my rabbits who have been seeing Dr Bowater since 2021, I received a call back to cancel the appointment and was told that they NO LONGER TREAT ANY EXOTICS. This is odd because it is still listed on their website, Facebook, and Instagram account. I think it would be wise for them to update that, inform their receptionist, and notify all existing patients that they are no longer able to care for them.

Dr. Caroline is honest and true and cares about each and every patient. You're not a number with Dr. Caroline she talks to you face-to-face as a human and treats your pet the same way. That's why I drive 2 hours take my dog's there. The staff is friendly courteous and an extension of dr. Caroline. Professionalism is paramont at this office.
