How to Save Money at Boulevard Veterinary Care
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My first visit there was was very good I brought my dog Jack there because he was very ill, they did blood work on him and then told me he needed a hospital. So I took him to valley Central hospital in Allentown because I have gone there before with one of my previous animals a yellow lab Sundance for he had double ACL surgery on both his legs they did a wonderful job and they were awesome unfortunately I lost my precious for baby Jack that day October 31st 2023 . My second visit to this vet did not go very well when I brought Jack's sister in Jill because she had stopped eating. I filled out the paper on all the things I wanted the vet to check on her the one paw that was hurting her ears she was shaking a lump on her chest and to see if she had a urinary tract infection. Then one of the most friendliest staff members came in went over my paperwork and said the vet be in a few minutes, the vet came in and I spoke with him I told him about her paw and everything else that I had listed on the paper that I wanted checked he didn't check anything not even her paw all he said was I will test her for Lyme's I asked him to also check for diabetes since her brother also had it. And he walked out the door he didn't check anything on my fur baby Jill nothing. So upon check out I get this bill of $276 for blood work and then several different medications. I did not authorize them to do a complete blood panel on her only to check for Lyme's and diabetes so I was very taken back by the bill that I couldn't afford to pay so my friend helped me out to pay it. The medications that were given were for pain gabapentin, a medication to increase her appetite and another medication for pain in her back legs . Why would you give a dog gabapentin when you didn't even check the dog's paw. They said I'd get the test results in an email from the blood work within 24 hours which I did and one thing came back borderline negative so I called up to ask about it and they said I had to bring her back in 2 weeks for another blood draw because they were going to send the results out to a different lab . That morning my friend was checking Jill's paw and noticed that her fifth nail was so curved it was digging into her paw which was what was causing her the pain if the doctor or should I say that would have looked at her paw that day maybe he would have noticed it. But instead he gave me pain medication gabapentin for something that she didn't even need. When I brought Jack in on the first visit they cut his nails and they cut Jill's nails but I guess they forgot to cut her fifth nail on both front paws so that's what was causing the pain . I was very unhappy that the vet did not even examine her on her visit. Then I brought her back in 2 weeks for the other blood draw to be sent to a different lab that came back positive high I asked for the numbers I was told there aren't any numbers for that particular blood work. I asked how could there be no numbers how did they determine borderline negative and then say positive high that has to be a number for them to determine its high I'm told there is number. So now she's on an antibiotic for something I'm not really quite sure that she even has for 30 days. But in order to get this antibiotic I called three times on Saturday and got no return Monday came and still no return so after my friend had knee replacement surgery I drove up there and they were closed it was 3:00 they're supposed to close at 4:00!! Somebody else drove up and got out of their car and went to the door and I said they're closed and she said I spoke to someone earlier and they said they'd be here till 4:00 I told him I had to wait for my husband to bring me here so her and I were talking outside and someone came out from The grooming section and asked if they could help us the other lady said I was here to pick up medication for my dog and they said that they'd be here till 4:00 The grooming lady said they closed early cuz all their afternoon appointments canceled, sounds a little fishy to me. Anyway my opinion of this place have changed

Very caring staff. I had to put my 7 year old yellow lab down, cancer in stomach. If you think I cried like crazy, the staff cried as well. Even the vet. One of the techs ran out as i was leaving to hug me. I still miss Ruby like all the time but her ending was comforting.

I’ve been taking my puppy here since the first week we brought her home at 2 months old and they’ve helped her get to point now of being up to date on all her puppy shots. Everyone is friendly which makes it really easy to come here and not have to dread taking your animal to the vet. Definitely recommend!

My very nervous rescue dog had been abused and is very cautious around new people and animals. The staff made sure she was comfortable and calm. She was recently groomed by Laura and as you can tell, she thoroughly enjoyed her spa day.
