How to Save Money at The Cat Hospital of Media
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My experience with The Cat Hospital was wonderful. We came to them for end of life services for my 19 year old cat Brooke. Brooke had started to decline and we decided it was her time before she started to suffer. Never using them before I called the cat hospital because a friend of mine uses them. Everyone was so sweet and caring towards us. They gave us all options and supported our decision with moving forward with euthanasia for Brooke. She was 19 and lived a great life. They even brought us to a private relaxing room to say our final goodbyes and we got to stay with her until the end. I can’t not thank the doctors and staff for all that they did for us! I got Brooke’s ashes back and it came with a beautiful painting that had her paw prints in with it as well.

We’ve been coming here for years, but recently we had to bring our cat Bruce for an urgent sick visit. Not only does the staff show genuine care and concern, I appreciate that they always provide full estimates for services on the spot. We were able to talk as a family and decide what was best for Bruce, with the full support of the vet and technicians. After an x ray and nausea medication, we had peace of mind and his health improved. Can’t thank them enough!

I can’t say enough good things about our experience with the Cat Hospital of Media. From the moment I brought in my cat, Mabel, the entire staff treated both of us with an extraordinary level of compassion and understanding. We were facing the emotional weight of a serious diagnosis, and they made what could have been an overwhelming experience feel supported, informed, and hopeful. Dr. Pelltz was incredibly knowledgeable and intuitive—she helped create a clear timeline of Mabel’s care and gave me guidance with empathy and precision. Every question I had (and there were many) was met with kindness, patience, and thoughtful answers. The team never made me feel rushed or dismissed, and they’ve continued to follow up and ask for updates even after Mabel’s referral—something that speaks volumes about how much they care. Even when I brought up the idea of pre-medicating Mabel with gabapentin for future visits (after doing some of my own research), they were immediately receptive and worked with me to make it happen—getting us same-day access (within an hour or two) to help make her future appointment as calm and fear-free as possible. This practice truly goes above and beyond—not just in treating their feline patients, but in how they care for the humans who love them. I’m so grateful to have found them, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone looking for deeply compassionate, cat-focused care. Thank you, Dr. Pelltz and team, for everything you’ve done for Mabel—and for me.

They quoted me $600 to neuter a stray cat . It is $50 elsewhere. The kitty is now part of my fam. I called the Cat Hospital of Media again. One person was helpful. The second person was randomly mean. I will be taking my lil buddy to somewhere else.
