How to Save Money at BluePearl Pet Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I was blown away by the care my cat received this past weekend. Having had a lot of pets throughout my life and also working with animals I’ve experienced many different hospitals. My dog woke me up at 3am Sunday morning to one of my cats unable to breathe on the floor. I rushed him over to you guys. I was completely devastated and in shock. The lady working the front desk that early morning was so kind to me and even took the time to talk to me about everything since it is so hard to process what to decide to do when you are in shock. He was is very bad shape and I am so grateful to the doctors and nurses who were able to figure out a way to treat him, especially upon arrival, when he could not be out of oxygen for long. I appreciate the compassion, understanding and amazing communication by Dr.Russel and the daytime doctor(sry I don’t remember her name) but she was kind enough to help me get him into a cardiologist apt right away when we left the ICU. Dr.Russel called me every shift to let me know his progress and he even took the time to sit down and update me when I visited. The ICU nurses I met were all so friendly and I felt comfortable that he was being well taken care of. They were very helpful to answer any questions I had. I was able to take him home Tuesday and I am happy to report he is doing better every day and is resting happily with his family. He’s a fighter and even though the prognosis for long term is grim he seems happy and content to be home. I’m so grateful that I am able to spend more time with him. Thank you for making that possible.

We are still in the middle of the diagnosis of cancer and then determining what can be done for our Cooper — who has been the best boy, always ready to snuggle and pose for his photos … But the staff has been very caring and emotionally supportive, we know our final outcome will be loss and that’s heartbreaking ❤️🩹 but we appreciate how Dr Round and Gabby have listened and are helping us … and now Dr Kim also to help us see what’s possible since we love 💕 him so much, He’s our boy forever…..

Dr Freilich was great. She listened and sat on the floor with me and my girl to discuss all possibilities and diagnostics, as well as priorities, following an ultrasound. When she called a few days later with a test result, she didn’t rush, we spoke about where that left us and what we could do next, allowing for questions and clarity. The facility was clean, there was water for the humans, a vending machine (though some snacks were definitely expired lol). The front desk staff was very kind to us and our girl. Recommended!

This was my second trip to Blue Pearl for an emergency visit for my cat. I was able to speak with someone on the phone to provide details about the situation and they helped me determine if I should come in or not for an emergency visit. Their staff is fantastic - everyone is so kind and caring, which is especially important when it’s the middle of the night and you’re stressed about your pet. The doctor took his time explaining the situation to me and didn’t rush. They also consulted on the phone with animal poison control on my behalf to determine treatment. Thank you!!
