How to Save Money at Veterinary Emergency Group
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

I am beyond grateful to VEG ER for Pets for the incredible care they gave my dog, Bailey. She had a sudden allergic reaction that was terrifying, but the entire staff acted quickly and professionally to make sure she was safe. They not only provided excellent medical treatment, but also showed her so much love and comfort throughout the process. What stood out to me the most was how transparent and caring they were—they walked me through everything that was being done, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt reassured every step of the way. Bailey wasn’t just another patient to them; she was treated like family. Thanks to their expertise and compassion, Bailey is back to her happy self. I couldn’t recommend VEG ER for Pets more highly for anyone looking for a veterinary team that truly goes above and beyond.

I can’t say enough great things about this place. I had never heard of them until an unfortunate situation early wednesday morning when I found my nearly 10 year old bunny unable to get up on her front legs. It was shocking, terrifying, and completely unexpected. At the age of almost 10, no treatment was reasonable and I had to come to terms then and there with putting her down. Called the normal ER vets and no one could see a bunny. VEG was recommended and I was there shortly after. My sweet bunny was put down around 1:30am wednesday morning. VEG was incredible. they were so kind, comforting, understanding, non-judgmental, and above and beyond respectful to me and my bunny. It’s taken me a few days to write this review because of how upset this situation was to me (and I never write reviews) but this place deserves it. In her old age, some of the usual grooming actions had become more difficult with her but they didn’t even bat an eye. pure understanding and care. I truly thank you. thank you for being there for me and my bunny. thank you for walking me through my first euthanasia with my first pet with the most care and compassion. RiRi thanks you, and is now hopping through the fields on the other side.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! You get to stay with your pet 24/7 if you choose we were there 2 days. Each of Seamus’ DVM’s went above and beyond to make us both comfortable. Each were extremely personal yet professional. The entire staff were extremely knowledgeable & collaborated when needed. To the entire staff, thank you immensely for the care of my sweet boy. Because of you he’s still with us.

Piggy was transferred to VEG Friday night after an emergency splenectomy and going in to cardiac arrest. From the moment we arrived, there was a whole team (including a dr) waiting to help us get Piggy inside and get him hooked up and assessed. Within minutes they had a plan for the next 24-48 hours and during this time we never had to leave his side and they explained everything they were doing. One of the most unique and greatest things about this place is the open setup and the fact that you can stay with your pet! I was able to get set up with Piggy in a room that had a pullout bed - this allowed me to stay with him the entire time. I really feel this helped aide in his recovery because I could be there and comfort him. The staff was so attentive to my boy and also made sure to check in on me! After a 45 hour stay, Piggy got the all clear to go home. I appreciated the care, the transparency, the communication, and the dedication to animals this place has. Yes, ER vets are expensive but the difference here is the level of care, attentiveness, and the ability to stay with your animal. If I ever have another emergency, VEG will be the only option for me and my animals! a HUGE thanks to everyone that helped take care of Piggy!!!

I brought Rhiannon in last night after she experienced extreme nausea and vomiting out of nowhere. This was our first time at the facility and, upon entering, we were greeted by several staff members who were quick to triage her. My boyfriend and I were immediately kept in the loop and got to stay by her side the entire time. From triage to treatment, we had an absolutely wonderful experience thanks to Dr. Taylor and her assistants. The little details and commitments to comfort made me definitely want to come back if need be in the future. They were very good at comforting my baby and even set out a comfy blanket for her. They spoiled her just as much as I do! Thank you so much to the entire team.
