How to Save Money at Brimfield Veterinary Services
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

The doggy dentist and their staff took care of my little 10 year old teddy like he was their own. They also took care of me, making sure that I knew how to care for Teddy after taking him home.

Vet cares more about money than the well-being of her patients. Despite our puppy being seen less than two weeks ago, she refused to dispense necessary medication, choosing to let our puppy’s condition deteriorate until we could attend their limited walk-in hours to be seen by a tech. She lacks basic bedside manner. Avoid this place like the plague. EDIT: Here’s a quick update that goes to show how subpar this place is, since they’re trying to defend themselves in their response. We took our puppy elsewhere, and were informed immediately that she was never on the appropriate dosage of the medications prescribed. They were genuinely CONFUSED by the treatment plan from Brimfield Vet Services. This vet made our puppy WORSE, and then refused to dispense any medications to help improve her condition for the time being until she could be seen. We came here because we couldn’t get an appointment anywhere else, and we have been regretting it since. Like I said, avoid this place like the plague. :)

So, I had to bring our cat to the vet but couldn't get an appointment for a week at our normal veterinarian office, however, we found Brimfield. We called and we're told they do take walk in cases, but at certain times. I made the trip out to them and waited in the parking lot and called them at 1:30 when the began taking the afternoon walk-in cases and organizing them. I was asked to wait outside until I received a call back. The call came back to me minutes later saying they were ready for me and my pet, and to come inside. I was brought immediately into an exam room where the tech weighed my guy, gathered all the information and asked that I wait while the doctor examine my cat in another room. Dr. Janelle Gottuso, came in and explained the issues that were being faced and I absolutely agreed to the treatment. I was asked to wait while they treated him and I chose to wait in parking lot. I was then called as soon as his treatment was completed and I was asked to come back in to pick him up. Dr. Gottuso and her staff were amazingly professional and courteous and they made me feel absolutely comfortable the entire time I was there. The treatment, understandably expensive, was more affordable than Pittsburgh. (where I moved from) I would recommend them to anyone that needs a veterinarian, any day of the week. They are Very Caring people. Oh, if you read this far, did I mention, this all took place in a little over an hour from start to finish? If you need a veterinarian, go there.

Took my cat in on a Wednesday and picked up her ashes the following Wednesday. Absolutely unexpected death. The vet said she had trouble breathing while getting x-rays and passed away a few minutes later. I was charged $300 for x-rays while she arrested. I thought the charge may have been a mistake but was told since the service was performed, I have to pay for it. I still don't know what the x-rays showed or what exactly happened in the back. The people involved have been "too busy" to answer questions. The office manager said the vet would not reimburse me for the x-ray, but instead offered to pay for a memorial trinket. Thanks, but no thanks. I would never recommend Brimfield vet to anyone.

This is the first vet my 7y/o dachshund actually walked into. Normally she gets out of the car and runs in the opposite direction. I like the first come first serve method. Staff was very friendly and the place just has good overall vibes. Ended up being diagnosed with a luxating patella on one leg. Spent a lot of time actually talking to techs and the doctor herself. Very thorough explanation of everything and not pushy. Very reasonable prices with our visit too. 10/10 would recommend and will be back
