Preventive care
Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.
Compare prescription pricing
Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.
Consider pet insurance

My mom recently had to put her cat down. The staff & Dr were truly compassionate & amazing to us when my mom's cat didn't go to this vet. They took my mom as an emergency case. I've never experienced such an amazing loving caring staff before. They truely are the best & i can't thank them enough for making such a painful day less tramatic for my mom.

Southern Tier Animal Hospital in Vestal has given me problems since day 1. They’ve made it clear that they dislike my dog because he has high anxiety and is difficult to care for. In addition to treating us poorly, they once misdiagnosed him with a disease that cost me hundreds to figure out. Weeks later I was told someone read his blood work wrong, and I was offered no compensation. Their solution to giving my dog medical care is to sedate him for everything; something that I’m not ok with as it comes with risks. When expressing my concerns with them today, I was met with aggression and hung up on. Do NOT take your animal here if they are scared of the vet— this company only wants to do the bare minimum with animals that give them no problems. Needless to say, I’ll be taking my dog elsewhere and sharing my experience with anyone looking for a vet.
