How to Save Money at Brighton Eggert Animal Clinic and Pet Resort

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

My 4 year old min pin mix started to have what I thought were UTI symptoms, for example more frequent urination, accidents in the house, and trying to urinate with not much coming out. I called on a Saturday and they were able to get us in at 5 pm that day for an urgent care visit. We were seen right away and Dr. Aguayo immediately felt Luna’s underbelly and said it feels like she has bladder stones I’m going to xray her right now to be sure. Results were a bladder full of stones, almost taking up all of the space in her bladder and not leaving enough space for urine. We were told she would 100% need surgery and the Dr. was able to fit her in the next day for her cystotomy. The surgery went perfectly and we were able to pick Luna up at 5:30 pm and bring her home to recover. I’m so grateful I established with this practice over a year and half ago for Luna’s vet care. Ive met an array of staff from different Veterinarians and techs to the service desk workers, and I always leave there feeling like my baby is really in good hands, and feeling more educated on her health and needs. From dropping Luna off at 8 AM to prepare for her surgery, I was waiting until about 3:00 PM for Dr. Aguayo to call with the good news that the surgery went perfectly. I was a nervous wreck crying all day worrying about if she would be okay or not and was so relieved to hear that it went well and that I could come get her soon. The day after her surgery I received a call from staff to check on Luna and see how she is doing, which I am grateful that they really take the time to followup up almost immediately instead of just waiting until that 2 week post op appointment. Luna is doing really well 2 weeks post op and she is pretty much back to her old self again. Im really grateful that this veterinary team is one I can trust with my babies care.

The doctor and the assistant were great I brought my cat Raven there for 3-year rabies shot which they did not have in stock I asked them to put anti flea and tick which they did not have I also wanted the cat to be the wormed which they did not do they charged me $117 absolutely crazy I didn't get anything accomplished but a one year rabies shot they told me to go on chewy in order bravecto flea and tick I asked if I could get it through them and pick it up they said no you're better off doing it on your own my cat is older does not like to go to the Vet it stresses him out why make an appointment with me saying the cat needs all these shots senior check up and go there and not have anything? Even though the doctor and the assistant was very nice professional I was very disappointed basically a waste of my time

Very polite, helpful and fast acting from the beginning of the visit. Phone calls are answered right away with thorough answers to provide. The doctor was friendly, willing to discuss information in detail and any answer all questions. At the end of the visit the results are explained and they offer any additional info to assist in all your veterinary needs. Thank you for your time and caring for my pet.

Don't listen to the lies!! Brighton saw little Comet just a few months ago and wouldn't give him medicine this week! Anything to bill for a visit, eh Shelby? SHELBY declined to provide medicine for my cat. Very extortionist practice, awful service. Incredibly belligerent staff. Comet deserves his medicine!!
