Preventive care

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

I have a rescued terrier mix who is highly reactive to men and other dogs. My previous vet (male) insisted on her wearing a muzzle every time we needed to come into the office. River Road Animal Hospital coincidentally has an all-female staff, so we switched. Dr. Glock is amazing with my dog; at the last visit, she spread baby food on the examination table so that my dog would be occupied while Dr. Glock examined her. She took the time to understand my dog and recognized that she needed to do something different to gain my dog's trust. Pupdate: This was our first visit to Elan for toenails and although Tali wasn’t happy about it, Elan was able to cut and grind her nails!

Moved to the area recently and was looking for a new vet for our dog. The staff here was incredible and so kind. You can tell that they all love what they do, and they make the experience enjoyable and easy for your pets. Highly recommend and happy we found such a great place for our pup!

My cat had a very poor prognosis after an emergency vet visit to another hospital. We were told to get him to a vet if he made it through the weekend to get his levels checked. Setting up an appointment was quick and easy and the person operating the phone was sweet and listened to the whole story, the vet techs when we arrived were attentive and gentle with our kitty. Dr. C. Was the vet we got for him and she is so knowledgeable. She ran the tests he needed and although we left yet again with a poor prognosis, we also left with some medications and a little bit of hope. We have since went back this past week, 3 weeks after Draco's emergency room trip and he is progressing fantastically. Although we are not out of the woods yet, he is doing so much better with the medications he is on. We go back for another check in a couple of weeks, we can only hope that we get more good news
