How to Save Money at Hudson Animal Hospital
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
Dr Kahn and the great staff took the best care of our babies. Extremely knowledgeable - got on the phone and emailed me when I had questions. Very stressful times when your precious pet/baby needs help. So important to have a doctor and. Staff you can trust. Highly recommended. Part of the family now. Pamela and John - Larry, Moe and Curly

Nothing but high praises for all the staff here. Freya, my 6 year old Australian Shepherd has been going to Dr. Yoshida her whole life. Freya LOVES to visit. Dr. Yoshida is knowledgeable, skilled and I genuinely feel like she cares about my dog as a patient. I can tell she loves what she does. I trust she will do what’s best for her. I wouldn’t take Freya anywhere else. Thank you all! *photos are post dental therapy❤️

I guess after 10 years your reviews disappear from Google! So I'm more than happy to write another about our favorite vet practice in all of NYC. Started taking my Tilly girl here in 2014. After her first visit with Dr. Yoshida I was sold. We had been to quite a few different vets since I adopted her and this visit was the most thorough one she's ever had. My Tilly girl lived to 17. We said goodbye August 28th 2024 at her favorite vet practice. I'm convinced Tilly lived such a long life due to the extremely attentive and thorough care she received by Dr. Yoshida and the entire team at HAH. There is no question of this. I have a dog walking service and 95 percent of my clients have made the switch and all said the same thing. They wish they had done it sooner. There are not enough thank you's in this world that would suffice for what you and the team have done for us throughout the years and continue to do for our Hazel and my clients. We are forever grateful!

We've been going to Hudson Animal Hospital since we had our precious dog Haji in 2019 and we are very happy with all of the doctors and the support staff. Our dog sees either doctor Yoshida or Kahn (depends on avialbility) and they are the most sweetest and thoughtful doctors we've ever met. With our previous dog Bella, before Bella passed away, Bella had many health issues so we went to many different vet's offices and we had quite of numbers of unpleasant experiences like requesting unnecessary tests, unkind, not proper communications etc, but with Hudson Animal Hospital we never had any problems so we are very happy with this vet :) The facility is very clean and the front desk people are very kind and professional (and helpful whenever I called for questions).

I’m a picky dog parent and wouldn’t trust anyone but the best with my rescue pup. I always feel like my dog is in excellent hands when she visits Hudson Animal Hospital. The service from the staff and doctors is excellent and Dr. Angiello and Dr. Yoshida are caring and considerate. Updating 8/24/2023 - Dita has been through many visits over the last few years from regular check ups to dental to a few worrisome visits but I’ve always felt like she was important and my questions were important. This office takes the time to make everyone feel valued and having been to a few other places (while they were fine) Hudson Animal Hospital shines. They aren’t the cheapest for sure but I’ll take great care I trust over cost any day. (Photo of Dita in a cone after having a growth removed)
